First time ever using clay and firing
I wanted to make a Rudolph village because the Bradford exchange rudolph was so small I sent it back. I have a kiln never used it and didn't know how. Initially I got a different low fire clay. It was too difficult for figurines so I ordered this clay. It was so much smoother and easier to work with! I was so scared to underglaze and glaze. Then even more nervous to fire but they turned out amazing! Love the clay!

Fired beautifully
Why did you pick this product vs others?:As a first time potter this clay did not disappoint. I actually bought different clay from a local shop after this and it fired horribly and was ruined. Amazon clay for the win! I think it is a little over priced but if you find something that works why change it?

I've bought so MANY
This has been my FAVORITE go to clay as a art teacher for a while now. It holds up in storage very nicely and doesn't dry out at all when needed (I store it wrapped in plastic in mini fridge). Super easy to work with and when pricing against other brands this has more bang for your buck. The clay is a great color and dries out very nicely before firing. I've only had 1 pottery pieces bust with this clay unlike other brands!

Highly tempered - best for slab work
7/4/25 - Got a kind note from product maker offering refund. I want to make it clear, I do not think this is a bad product but I had a particular purpose in mind and this is not, IMO, not well suited for that. I am, however, finding it to be very good for the slab work I do. The stiffness is a benefit in doing that. Also the temper reduces shrinkage. I would like to see all clay producer list temper % and mesh size in their product listing. I did not avail myself of their refund offer. It is working well for me hand formed items. This clay has a lot of temper. It is difficult to thrown on a wheel and the temper is eating my hands up. It may be useful for hand crafted pieces but with so much temper I did not expect it to shrink as much as it does.Based on this limited use I'll not like buy it again as I want to create pots on the wheel more than hand built. I've got 50 pound of it so I'll try to get some value from it. I've used about 15 pounds of it so far. I cannot work it on a wheel. I have successful used in for hand made (slabs, coils) items and it works fine for that. I'm going to have to refrain from buy clay that does not publish info about the filler, shrink %, etc.
