5 Stars - Smooth Setup, Tons of Options, Great Value
I’m impressed with how easy the Rain Bird TRU6I is to work with. Installation was quick, programming is super straightforward, and there are so many ways to customize the schedule that anyone can dial it in. It runs reliably and feels well‑built. Definitely worth the buck.

Works great, value controller
I am told that for some reason these rain bird controllers are fail after a few years. I have no experience there but the house we moved into had a failing rain bird controller. They seem neck and neck with hunter, with hunter having a slight edge in lifespan. However, rain bird offers this one at an advantage - an entry level model with no WiFi at value pricing. That’s what I needed. Installation was quick and easy. Took photographs of the old wiring and moved it all over. NOTE, the outputs on the old unit were 6-1 and this one is 1-6, so the sequence of the leads had to be reversed for me to preserve the number assignments. There are one or two programming variables not present on my old unit that aren’t well explained, but taking a guess here and there seems fine. It’s up and working and the changeover was straight forward.

Highly Recommend the "TRU" Rain Bird Models!!!
I replaced an old Rain Bird...OLD...with this model in a house we just moved into months ago. Once I "recorded" the wire positions on the old controller, the directions for this model were very simple, direct and informative. Setting up the zones, dates, times of sprinklers was again, very simple. I found out I only had 4 zones, I bought this 6 zone controller simply to have a couple extra zones if needed. I would highly recommend this line of Rain Bird controllers for your simplicity of installation and usage.

Excellent product but DIYers beware.
When the clock quit ticking on my 27 year old RainBird 1260Bi controller I decided to replace it with the current TRU6l model. Given all its solidly positive reviews, I had great expectations. What I discovered was that it would be more of a project and required a lot more head scratching than I anticipated. That was in large part because the guy that installed my old controller left a huge rats nest of unidentified wires inside for me to try to figure out. After doing that the installation of the new controller was pretty straightforward and the result is comparatively very simple and tidy. The TRU6I has much more flexibility and many options that make it easy to switch between different schedules and its controls are well thought out. My only complaint is that the display is hard to read under less than ideal light conditions. I have it in my garage which has very adequate lighting but I still find it necessary to use a lighted magnifying glass when I need to read the display.

Works great!
Nice upgrade from the original Rainbird controller our house had installed when we moved into this house. Easy to install and use. Take a picture of the original wire connections before removing the old one and installing this one is much easier as you now have a color coded wiring diagram to go by.

Achtung: Nur drei Programme!
Produkt greifen.
