Great bow at a great price!
well made ILF bow shoots great wish they had it in a 35-40lb had to get a 30 lb still pretty fast. was waiting months to get one of these after the great reviews I saw. This is one of my most accurate bows and I have many. Hope they sell after market limbs for these in the future! I know they are Chinese but customer service is excellent, reply quickly.

Price + quality = value.
Watched a ton of videos, so had a good idea of what to expect. I was not disappointed in this bow. I am 78 and decided to get back into archery, did not want o spend a lot of $$. This bow is perfect for my need. Getting it set up was easy with included instructions plus all the videos I watched. Was shooting in about 30 minutes after opening package.

Excellent Choice
After seeing the videos and owning the Hermit x10 . I decided to buy the x8 because I like a wood riser. Man was I overwhelmed. This bow is a shooter @45lbs is faster than most 50lb recurves that I have had. If there in stock don't think twice . Fast, smooth /no stacking and very quiet. This bow is built very well. Nice flat finish good for hunting. Hope this helps with your decision.

Be aware of faults in the riser
This bow riser shattered in my hand, less than 2 months of use.

Great bow, great price, great customer support
This bow is so much fun to shoot! I have two compound bows, but the Hermit 8 is what I go to for backyard play. I had trouble with a few instructions, and Evelyn on the Sanlida staff has responded quickly to my questions. Having a good time with archery again.

Overall a great bow
This is a great bow overall. For the price it's fantastic. There were a few issues that may need to be addressed before shooting much. If you're handy with tools and familiar with bows then it should be easy.First and biggest issue for me. The bow tip string grooves are at a sharp angle relative to the string at brace height. They should have been cut closer to 45 degrees. Over time this could create premature wear on the loops and even string failure if not monitored. I plan to smooth this out with a file and Dremel tool before ordering a premium string.Second, while the provided string is a Flemish twist it's not very good quality. It was also way out as far as brace height and I had to apply a crazy 38 twists to bring the brace height to the recommended 7-8 inches. From the factory brace was less than 5.5 inches. The string is now so twisted up that it's impossible to separate it to install the silencers. Simply put the string was just too long from the factory. I'll be ordering a D97 Flemish twist string this week to replace it.Third, the grip is thicker than many of my other recurves and my hand wants to torque the bow to the left as it struggles to stay centered on the swell of the grip. I'll be addressing this with a file and some sandpaper soon. The Good, this bow looks great in person. The machining on the limb locks and pockets is top notch. The riser has some weight to it but is nicely finished. The bow shoots great even with 1/4" positive tiller. Fortunately being an ILF bow this is easily adjusted. At factory tiller with the adjusters all the way in my bow pulls 41.5 pounds at 28 inches of draw. Sanlida bows usually come in slightly over advertised draw weight so I was not surprised. The great thing about ILF limbs is they are easy to swap if you want to increase/decrease poundage or even go from recurve to longbow. I do wish it had come tapped for a raised arrow rest though, but stick one are available for cheap. The included shooting glove is actually a pretty good fit though it has an odor to it that is hard to describe other than it smells bad. The arm guard is functional but cheaply made. The included string silencers appear to be rabbit hair and are an attractive gray, black, and white. The bow was packaged well and everything was wrapped and padded and in great shape. It goes together easily and the provided instructions are adequate if you're a beginner.Update 8/13/2025Shooting this morning drew back bow and crack. The upper limb snapped just at the fade out. Sanlida is not easy to contact and I have emailed their contact address from their website.Update 8/26/2025After some back and forth Sanlida sent a replacement bow kit. Which was a blessing as it turned out the upper ILF tiller bolt and pocket were also damaged when the limb broke. The replacement arrived very quickly. Great resolution to this issue.
