Each box contains 4 gel sheets contained in 2 separate packs. You can easily tear the packaging without using scissors, so that is a good thing about it. A gel sheet will last up to 8 hours. I never had any issues of the unused ones getting dry or hard inside the original packaging. The gel sheet adheres pretty well to the skin of a child. They are soft, gel-like pads that stick to a child's (or sometimes an adult's) forehead that disperse a continual, cooling sensation. They stick well but it does not hurt to take it off. The are completely safe to use with medicine and the relief last for several hours. These can be hard to find at the store, so I am really glad that I found them here on desertcart. This order came with three boxes. There are four pads to a box, 2 to a pack. So, a total of 12 gel pads. Each pad is 2"x 4 1/4". My son gets extremely high temperatures when he is ill. 104- 105 degrees (Fahrenheit) is pretty common for him. Many times before, I have used a wash cloth to try to make him feel cool while we are waiting for the medicine to kick in but the cloth seems to warm up too quickly. Having to constantly go to the sink to cool it off is just not very ideal. (I won't use an ice pack because I don't want to cause shivering or other complications.) When his medicine is working, his fever only comes down to about 101.5- 102.5 degrees. Which sadly, is actually reassuring for me but it's still uncomfortable for him. My son loves it when he has fever. It helps him feel more comfortable during the fever. I put it on his forehead at night. It doesn't wet the pillowcase and it sticks and stays on till the morning. It helps lower fever by a few degrees in the first 10 minutes of use. Another use of this product is for migraine headache. I put ice in a ziplock bag and put on my forehead when I have migraine.
