It depends on the concentration of iron, manganese, and/or H2S in the water and how much of that water you use. Please see the chart entitled "Approximate Iron Filter Lifecycle" on manufacturers pa ge or in the owner's manual.

Can you use this carteidge alone ? Have a Big Blue only?

It isn't a good idea. This filter is for well water which is presumably untreated. Do NOT use this filter on city water. Untreated well water will contain sediment, which if a sediment filter is not used in front of this filter, it will plug up prematurely, and you do not want to use this $125 filter as a $35 sediment filter. So you need to use our Home Master Multi-gradient sediment filter as the first stage. You must use a carbon filter as a post filter. This filter can impart a bit of a taste on the water as part of its purification process, and the carbon filter will take care of it. Also the carbon filter's taste and odor removal characteristics complement and backstop the iron filter's to polish off excess breakthrough. Please reach out with a copy of your well water report prior to purchasing this or any other well water treatment equipment. We want to provide you with the right tool for the job.
