A: It is welded and riveted.  The Big Green Egg Ash Pan makes cleaning out the grill super easy.  It is super durable and I had mine for over 6 years now.  I love this product and is an essential item to help aid in cleaning out the grill.

A: Not sure but it is good quality and has not rusted.
