I have never used the high/low of the stramlight, it is on or off for me in what I use it for and I have never used the strobe feature either. I did have an "issue" with the first one I got because it was missing a spring for one of the batteries in the compartment, bottom middle, so was only operating on 5 batteries, but it did work because the batteries were in series with the ones that were there. The fix for that battery compartment defect was contacting Amazon for a return/swap and the second one had the spring, so keep an eye out for things like that.

It's a really nice, durable, flashlight with more of a spot beam that is piercing in the darkness...It doesn't offer flood at all - as it's more of a search and rescue light. I love the design and the fact that it takes AA rechargeable batteries. The only thing I wish was different is the clip - it needs a good heavy duty plastic clip that clips on more securely than the metal one it has that is just a slide on one. Anyhow, it's a great light. Just a little over priced.

Only option I have come across powerful enough to get through dark indoor smokeand show enough area to be a true improvement over truck charged lights

So far this light has been great. Very bright with a great beam of light. It has worked very well both on the engine and medic. I would recommend getting this light.

The beam is huge!I've used brighter flashlights but the difference on this light is the beam width.A 3" diameter beam at 170 lumen vs a 1/2" beam at 250 lumen from a tube style flashlight...?The larger beam is as good or better than nearly double the lumens from a small beam.The hanger, clip, switch, case are all KISS simple and durable. A great fit on my turnout coat and can really light an area or a room. Easy to use in gloved hands, one setting only (simple) and though the spot is a tight beam there's enough scatter to see what's at your feet.I can't wait to get this thing in the smoke!

This is my first BrightStar product. Awesome quality (head is bolted into body with 8 hex screws), bright (200 lumens now), and very lightweight due to the lithium battery. It is waterproof also and the shallow head makes it hard to snag on things (think squeezing through doorways, etc.). The special internal reflection optic over the led really allows it to throw far and pierce through smoke and fog. Its beam is very white, no blue tint. The little dot on the front right is an led that glows red when in the charging bracket and changes to green when fully charged.
