Jack The Ripper [DVD]

Good film, German made with English subtitles. An innocent man is charged with the Jack The Ripper murders and his sister sets out to prove he is not guilty of the crimes. This is a well made movie with nice period recreation and a strong performance by Sonja Gerhardt in the main role. A reasonable conclusion as to the actual killer as well (no spoilers). I really liked the idea of moving pictures being brought into the story a little bit like the first episode of Ripper Street. Well worth a watch and certainly one of the better films made on this subject. Recommended.

Not watched yet brought it for a weekend film to watch with my daughter

A German production filmed in Lithuania and dubbed into American-English on my copy, which held my scant interest to the end purely for an alternative conclusion to those already offered in other superior filmed offerings. I doubt that this will stay in my collection for long as it sits beside "A Study in Terror", "Murder by Decree", the two-part "Jack the Ripper" with Michael Caine, "From Hell" (and even for amusement, Jess Franco's take on the story with Klaus Kinski).

Descent film shame about the German, American dubbing

I didn't expect it to be in German because it's a film based in London but if you don't mind the subtitles it's actually a good film that keeps you guessing who the ripper actually is. The ripper is revealed at the end but obviously we all know he was never caught and remains a mystery.....does this film get it right - possibly!

Was a bit disappointing

I QUITE ENJOYED THIS FILM YET ANOTHER INTERPRETATION OF JACK THE RIPPER, A GOOD BRITISH CAST WITH SOME FAMILIAR FACES AND SOME NEW YOUNG ACTORS . I GAVE IT A 2 NOT A 5 RATING . I FOUND IT A GOOD LOOK AT AN OLD STORY.

Certainly an interesting take on the Jack the Ripper Legend.But it was dubbed into German with English subtitles. There were no language options only German.Would have preferred it to have been in English or at least to have English as an option.
