I have 3 cats, 2 are less than a year old and still growing. The older one, not a big fan of the toy but the 2 younger ones love it. They can jump and run, clad and bite. They have a lot of fun and it is really cute when they catch it in their mouth and try to walk off with it. I like the safety catch in the string for safe play. The cord did break, but this was due to the kitties teething and liking to chew on everything. They pulled hard enough to get the safety catch to pull apart and when it was on the ground they chewed through the cord. I was able to tie it back together, so it makes it a little higher for them to reach, but hey, more jumping practice and energy usage. The mechanism to hang onto the door frame works really well too. They can't pull it down but it is easy to install and remove. Plus, it doesn't leave scratches. And it makes me feel better that they have an interactive toy when I am at work. They will play with the toy at all hours too, and it it hits the wall or frame it can make a smacking or thumping sound. May have scared me in the middle of the night. Worth it though! I will be getting another one to hang in a different door for them.

We bought our cat his first "mousie' door hanger almost 8 years ago. With the exception of milk jug rings, he's never been a huge fan of cat toys but this was an instant hit. He loves to sneak around corners, hide behind doors and stalk the mouse. The bouncy cord allows the toy to play back and keeps him entertained. It's pretty cute when the cats grab the mouse and try to walk away only to have it snap back to the door for another few minutes of play This version added a rattle which our cats particularly love, but they did reduce the size of the mouse from the original which is a bit of a drawback. Be warned, your cat will eventually chew through the thin cord BUT the actual mouse lasts far longer than the door hanger. Our cat has about 5 mice that he hides throughout the house, about 3 or 4 of them are these (5+ years old) that he hordes into little piles and snuggles with. So, even though the door hanger won't last, the mouse remains a good toy. Be careful of the string once the cat chews through it - strings can be harmful (and expensive) or deadly if swallowed. We have another cat that has been through several thousand dollars worth of surgeries due to ingesting foreign objects so we ALWAYS trim the strings before giving the cats the loose mouse. Also be aware the door hanger will scratch your paint above the door so put padding on it if you care about that. Overall an awesome toy, loved to death by our cats, and I will continue to buy these as the kitties need them.

This cat toy is cute, very affordable, super easy to pack, and takes up very little space. It's great if you'll be staying in pet friendly hotels, Airbnb's, or crashing at someone's house for a night. You could even set it up at your campsite and let your (tethered) mini house panther let off some steam. What It Is It has a thin plastic coated wire in a V shape with rubber feet on the end and a plastic clip with detachable mouse string. The mouse is dark plastic covered with fake fur and cloth-like material. It has ears and eyes and mimic real mice. How To Use It To use, you basically just pick a doorway or branch if you are camping, put the toy's wire on it like a stethescope, and squish the bottom of the V to adjust grip. My Thoughts This was sturdier than I initially thought but doesn't seem sturdy enough to leave out all the time - which is fine with us because it was intended for travel or random use. Ours lost its protective feet almost as soon as we got it, exposing a small bit of wire, but hasn't damaged the wall/door trim. It gets a little annoying to walk into it or accidentally get tangled on it (people, never catto) but it's not really a huge issue. Our catto chomped through the string so we tie the leftover part onto the doorknob or a sturdy stick. The mouse stayed in pretty good shape for quite a while considering how often it was bunny kicked with ferocity. We removed the covering and just left a bare mouse after a particularly punishing round with our catto overlord (picture attached to show insides of toy covering). I will reorder this.

I have 5 cats in total, and 3/5 of them absolutely love this toy. One of them that hasn't touched it is elderly, so she doesn't play much at all in general. The fifth one seems to be slowly taking interest in it when we swing it around her, but she won't chase. So overall it's just an absolute win. Onto the design, oh man the design is awesome. We originally tested it on a flimsy ceiling fan (it's no longer hung there, it was just a test). The elastic suspending the toy takes 100% of the weight that our kitties put on it. The fan didn't waver once even when my fiancé and I were tugging on it. Another amazing feature of this design is that there are two halves to the elastic that are held together by a buckle. Our 13+ lb tomcat pretty much instantly figured out the cheat code, which is to just grab it and run as far away as possible. The buckle always breaks away before the elastic has ever snapped. I'm convinced this thing is virtually indestructible. The only problem with this toy is that it can be *very* dangerous. Even our 10 week old kitten has figured out how to fling it half way across the room and back. This is definitely a toy that needs supervision as long as it's hanging up. Other than that, this thing is a blast.

To start with, I almost never give negative reviews. That said, in this case I'm concerned that it could seriously hurt the cat... This looked like a great toy for a young cat who is enthusiastic and like to play independently. He loves his Cat Dancer toys, so I thought this would be similar... Not so. It took me a long time, and 4 tries, to get it set up. The end caps for the door mount kept coming off too. My cat immediately grabbed it, yanked a few times, chased it as it bounced back...then it became very quiet. His paw got caught in the elastic and he was trying to chew throught it to get it off! I tried adjusting it to different heights but just wouldn't stay up. Durability? Maybe the mouse is durable but the toy set up is not Sturdiness? Poor. Cat was able to chew through the elastic Safety? Poor. Rather high risk... I'm glad I was there when he was playing with it so I could prevent serious harm with his paw. I would not recommend it.

Holy cow my cat loves this. I got on to leave a raving review yesterday and then i started reading the other reviews about the horrible accidents with people's cats and i must say, it was the most agonizing remainder of my workday before i could go home and check on my 6 month old kitty. SHE WAS OKAY. The toy had slipped off my doorframe (my doorframe is too tall for it to clip over the top, but the tension and the rubber grips still keep it in place pretty darn well) and it looked as if she had just continued to play with it even after it was on the floor. Now whenever i go to sleep, it goes away in a drawer until i get home from work the next day and can monitor my kitty's safety when she plays with this toy. Maybe I'm paranoid, but id rather be overly safe than come home to a horrible horrible accident. Also, where the toy isn't out all the time, it actually makes it more fun for my kitty to play with because it become "new" to her everyday! I also read up on what kind of cat toys are safe, and it really opened my eyes. It's not safe for your cat to play with things they can pull off and swallow (beads, buttons, strings, etc) and you shouldn't let them play with yarn or twine or things like that because they can swallow the length of it and it gets stuck in their intestines and IS NOT GOOD. I definitely think that you can play with these kind of things as long as you're watching your kitty and making sure they're not swallowing anything, but if they're alone, only leave things out that are safe! Practice golf balls- the ones that have the holes in them, ping pong balls, scratching posts, etc. And put the rest away for when you're home!

My cat LOVES this thing. It is just a little high for him,though. That could be fixed with a little stretchy cord purchased in a sewing dept.and spliced into the cord. It does have a tendency to recoil so high sometimes it goes over the door and he can't get it. And sometimes the cord tangles in itself, leaving it only a foot or so down from the door facing. But still five stars as he loves it so much. It also has a piece of plastic in the middle of the cord that will separate if a cat should get tangled in the cord, so they don't hang themselves. By the way--take it down at night if you are a light sleeper or you will get woke up with a cat playing. Update: bought one for my niece months ago and she says her cat still plays with it every night Mine either tired of it or tore it up, I cannot recall, but had been with out it for several years I bought one for a foster cat the other day and mine immediately wanted to play with it. He came and took the toy out of my lap while I was unwinding the string! I had hoped to put it on a closet door for the foster, but that seems impossible. I can, but he constantly makes it bounce up onto a closet shelf. It did hang a bit high for the foster, who is about ten months old, so I replaced some of the string with elastic cord from sewing shop. That may have been an error as now he grabs it, pulls it down and tries to walk across the room with it. Result—closet shelf

My cat Tiki loved this when I first put it under my doorway. She pulled on it but immediately snapped it off the base on your doorway. Luckily it has a plastic clip you can use to snap it back in place after this happens, but I recommend you try playing with your cat after its detached from the base. My cat had stopped playing because the plastic clip that holds this toy to the base on your doorway got flung on her when it detached, and it hurt her. She ignored it for several hours after that, then I decided to play to use it as a standalone toy (hey she might like it?) and she much prefer that! Feel free to try it! Maybe your cat will like it as a chasing toy like Tiki does. All cats are different though and Tiki is very feisty but very loving. Overall, this product would receive 2.5 stars from me. Its main function is terrible since your cat will yank it out from the base on your doorway and it may hurt her/him when it snaps off the base (It WILL happen btw). As a standalone toy to use as a chasing toy, its pretty good. The mouse itself is in pretty great shape is very durable and high quality. The string that attaches to your doorway and the plastic clip holding it together and on to your doorway is cheap plastic and terrible quality. In the end its Tikis favorite toy (used as a standalone toy and not on the doorway) that she brings me when she's bored and wants to play.

Great cat toy - hang it from the door frame and the cat can play with it at any time. I sent it to my friend's cat for Christmas and when it broke in the middle of the night and I was visiting, he woke me up with the broken cat toy, indicating it needed fixing!

Mr Biggles LOVES this toy, as does his sister Zubikins! But a week of chewing and plucking left the poor mouse completely bald... In fact he is just a plastic, rattling, tooth marked shell now! This is not a complaint because let's be honest, I can't imagine how you'd create a completely cat proof toy of this sort if it's very loved and played with constantly... I'm taking the only option available...I'm ordering another one! And trying to think of something I could tie to the old one's elastic that would be as fun!

Cat really likes this and is great exercise as she has to jump to reach it. Does get caught over the door from time to time as it bounces back. It has a clip similar to safety clip on collars only more flimsy which pulls apart if cat catches mouse and pulls hard. You can clip it back together so this is good design. After a number of weeks she gives it a go every so often so novelty seems to have worn off a little
