Pentel Twist-Erase III Mechanical Pencil, (0.9mm), Red Barrel

These are the best pencils ever. I've been a fan of this brand and style of pencil for 20 years now and this one is my favorite color! When I found this mechanical pencil the first time when I was in high school, one of these pencils lasted me six years! That is a long life for something made of plastic that gets a lot of use. The lead is replaceable, as is the eraser and the eraser does its job well. I get a clean erase every single time. The erasers are also super easy to replace, so just one of these pencils can last until it falls apart. I used to take mine apart and put it back together numerous times out of boredom and that one still lasted six years! These come in different colors and lead sizes now, too, which wasn't the case when I got my first one. Since I have been using this brand of pencil, I have never gone back to using any other pencil. The only issue is that it can separate in the middle pretty easily and the metal clip might fall off when attached to a notebook. Regardless, this is still my favorite pencil and as long as you take care of it, one pencil can last you a lifetime.

I love these pencils! Number 0.9 mm lead is thick and sturdy. I replaced the lead with the SB instead of HB to have a darker line when writing. But the pencils are perfect!

This is the favorite pencil of five of the 6 members of my household, including myself. when I realized that we will spend time searching for a lost one before using another kind of pencil, I went ahead and ordered two twelve-packs. The eraser is has a smooth feel, lasts a long time, and erases well. The pencils feel good to hold and come with a lead already in them, which is awesome when you’re grabbing a new one on the way out the door.

If you had a million dollars to commission a mechanical pencil, you could not improve on the Pentel. Once you've used one, you'll know how reliable and comfortable it is. I use the .9 in our custom cabinet shop because the leads are less prone to breaking when marking wood surfaces or using to scribe a line.

I've used these pencils for a few years, and they're my go-to.I love the bold purple, cushioned grip, twist up eraser, and bold lead. No one will ever get away with "accidentally" walking away with my pencil!If you're good at keeping up with your pencils, this one will last you for years; every bit is replaceable. I get the spare erasers and lead without having to hunt for the parts as they're commonly available.I have autoimmune arthritis and have difficulty finding writing implements that don't cause pain from frequent use. This is especially true for pencils. This one has a wide barrel, which allows me to grip a little easier, and the cushion stays put after long use. Highly recommend for folks with similar concerns.
