Smooth rich taste, low acid, great Coffee
I love my dark roast coffee and the freshness of a whole bean brew, so I was excited to get this coffee. This sounds like it's a pretty popular brand in Europe, and though I've heard the name before I've never had it. Per the packaging Rost Frisch stands for freshly roasted in German. These are Arabica beans, and their flavor profile is 5/6 for intensity, 0/6 for acidity, and 6/6 for roast level. I don't have any personal familiarity with it so this is the first time that I tried it, and I'm quite impressed. This Tschibo whole bean brew comes in a somewhat nice and unique package that has a cap you can take off to neatly pour the beans out, which I appreciate. It has two dates listed: A (which I'm assuming is when it was packaged of 2.19.24 (I'm Americanizing the dates) and B which I'm assuming is best by 2.19.26, so the beans are plenty fresh. The beans smell great, which made me eager to try them. The taste to me was very good. I agree with other comments that I'd consider this more of a medium dark roast than a truly dark roast coffee, but I like both so that is fine with me. The package describes it as having a bittersweet chocolate flavor, and I would agree. There are hints of bitterness, but they aren't bad and overall I thought the coffee is rather smooth and easy for me to digest as someone who sometimes feels a bit off after drinking more acidic coffees, which I appreciate. Conclusion: While this coffee is priced a tad bit higher than a normal 12oz coffee I might run into at a grocery store, it actually isn't priced bad for imported coffee. For the smell, taste, low acidity, and quality I think it is worth the small premium. Overall, I really like this coffee and I would recommend it to those who like medium or dark roasts and are looking to try a somewhat premium but still affordable whole bean coffee.

Nice fresh beans, Light mild flavor
This Tchibo Röst Frisch Morning Blend whole bean coffee came packaged three in the box. One thing that struck me is there is a twist on nozzle at the top of the bag. This is new to me and I've not seen it in other brands. I'll be honest I think it is a bit of a waist and would prefer they didn't have it on the bag.The beans have a mild roasted coffee scent. They are nicely light roasted and the beans are all nicely formed and not broken. They aren't oily and don't make a mess when ground like some others do.I brewed it with one heaped TBSP of beans per cup of water for drip coffee. This is about 1/4 TBSP more than I normally do. With my normal coffee this produces a good full flavored brew. However with this it produced a fairly mild and weak brew. It has light acidity with a surprising amount of bitterness. With the strait coffee I didn't notice significant sweetness and there was only the slightest note of chocolate. I like some Italian Sweet Cream in my coffee and this produced a surprisingly tasty brew with it in my coffee.I'm going to try it again with two different brews. One with 1.5 TBSP per cup in the drip brewer and one with 30 grams of coffee to 500ml of water in a pour over. I will update when I finish with that. Right now this is not my favorite coffee ever, but it really isn't really off putting either.** Update 5-14-2024 **I tried brewing at a higher ratio, both as a pour over and with 1.5 TBSP per cup and that made all the difference in the world. At these ratios it produces a wonderful brew which has a natural sweetness and bold chocolate notes with a noticeable acidity and little bitterness. I normally prefer my coffee with some creamer, but this is so good plain that I don't need the creamer at all. This is definitely a hit in our house.

Makes Wonderful Cold Brew
Coffee connoisseur here. Can't get enough and love trying new blends. Although I'm not a big fan of flavored coffees, I'll try anything once. And this particular blend is only faintly enhanced, so it doesn't have an artificial smell or taste. The smell is divine.I tried this straight, then I mixed it with another basic house blend. I liked it both ways, but mixed was better. Although this is described as "medium" strength, compared to a basic store-bought coffee like Maxwell House, it's a bit lighter in color. So I used more than I normally would, say 8 cups worth of coffee to 6-cups of water (or half a pot.) The color is good and rich, and faintly transparent, so it's not heart-attack strength and no real bitterness.Where this kind of brew excels is in cold brew. That's where a hint of flavoring can really bump things up, since cold brew is usually associated with sweetness. That little extra "tang" from the berries will allow you to go light on the sweetener. One more thing- this bag is great. It has a screw-on cap that seals the beans good and tight, and makes it easy to pour. No more folding up those foil bags and trying to keep the air out with a clip or rubber band. It's nice to see some added thought go into a product, right? It adds to the whole "fine quality" feel of this very tasty coffee.
