Does the 48cwr84 have two 4 ohm voice coils? or does it have two 2 ohm voice coils.

Wr84 is 4 ohms, the wr82 is 2 ohms

Are two of these sufficient for country and 80s 90s rock, loud and clear with a good hard kick drum thump?

Subwoofers are better for rap music the baselines are around 20-200hz. Rock music bass is more around a low mid-range 250-500hz woofer instead. In most vehicles you should look for a quality 2 or 3 way speaker that matches the rms watt output and hz range your looking for… I’m not aware of any speakers that can make country sound good. Otherwise the kicker comp r is a very good budget subwoofer.

I'm replacing the jbl sub that came with my 4th gen 4runner. Do I need an amp?

Unfortunately with the JBL system you are unable to add an amp. I have a 2021 Tacoma with the jbl system and found out after the fact :( you would have to completely bypass the jbl system with a special kit, in order to add the amp
