One of the Best Superhero Shows Ever Made
If you ever watched Justice League, Batman the Animated Series, or any of the other Animated DC Universe series, you'll appreciate this show. It was far, far ahead of it's time with darker, more mature subject-matter, beautiful animation, and brilliant sci-fi universe trappings and charactization. It also definitely features the greatest soundtrack and dialog of any of the DC universe shows. Will Friedle is a great boice actor and frequently has played a great protagonist (Advent Rising anyone?), but this is undoubtedly his greatest role. The way the aging Bruce Wayne and he play off of each other is absolutely fantastic and frequently hilarious. If the series has one flaw, it's that a fair number of the episodes fall into gross-out-weird monster-of-the-week territory. No problem, just skip them. The episodes that actually further the story and characters are downright amazing and frequently feature fantastic fight choreography, cinematography, and (again) wonderful writing. This was was a great show when I watched it on television, but it holds up even better today. On a big screen like my projector with a decent sound system it's absolutely amazing. As others have said, it's like Blade Runner meets Batman, and you'll feel like playing a round of Netrunner when you finish watching.Highly recommended. It's also required viewing if you want to go on to Justice League and Justice League Unlimited.

A good collection of episodes in this 3-pak for casual fans!
I barely got the chance to fully experience this amazing superhero series at the time of its airing as I was barred from all things Batman until the age of 14. When I discovered this set, I had to get it and catch up on what I missed and I love it! The animation style really comes alive with its Dark Noir touch, the characters look and feel very alive, and the stories are well written and mature. The first DVD; The Legend Begins stars of wonderfully with introductions to Man-bat, the Joker (twice!), Scarecrow and Poison Ivy with their interesting schemes and backstories. The second one is a bit of a let-down as most of the stories are based off interesting but not timeless villains except for the last one "Be a Clown" which I'm sure sons of busy parents can surely relate to. The last one more than makes up for the losses of the 2nd volume with 4 slambang episodes "See no Evil" "Cat and the Claw" parts I and II and my personal favorite "Heart of Ice" which won an Emmy for outstanding writing in an Animated Program, which really is saying something.Parental Advisory: Released around the time when TV ratings were introduced, some parents might be surprised by the level of content this animated series contains. Though advertised to kids, it's advised that parents watch this show with them, when they are 8 or 9 and up. The reasons include some strong violence (sometimes with blood) and some mature themes such as disfigurement, vengeance, loss, and child labor. Parents who grew up with this show should definitely refresh their memories before calling in this version of the bat.

Reliving my childhood
Enjoyed rewatching a few episodes. One day, I hope to share it with the next generation. Gotta have physical copies, though; don't know if it will be there by the time I have kids.

Wait One Second
This collection misses a vital episode! Somehow, everyone forgot about the fantastic episode "Judgement Day" where Two-Face develops a third personality, The Judge. If you are a true Batman fan like myself, you will want to ask the creators of this collection, where in the world is that episode. Although this is a phenomenal collection, it is incomplete!

Must have...no ifs about it
I used to watch the animated series when it was on TV like 10 years ago, so when it came out on DVD I didn't even think about it, I bought it.In my opinion this is one of the best-animated TV shows out there. The story lines are terrific; all the episodes are interesting, the hero (Bat Man) is a very endearing character, and the show is just entertaining. And each episode has its own distinct music. There is a lot to be said about the music in this show, because the producers used an entire orchestra to give the show a very unique and profound sound.Batman tackles everyone and everything, from mob bosses to evil corporations, and crazy vilians. In my opinion the show was way ahead of its time. There is something very interesting about every episode. They are very psycological in their story lines. My favorite aspect of the show is probably the dialogue; the Joker, Batman and a few others have just wonderful lines that you never forget. If you were a fan when it first originated, then you must have the DVDS, buy all three at once and save 9 bucks.Terrific cartoon!!IMHO
