I Wonder if this will be too advanced for me, a newbie…..?
I’m delighted with this kit and I was really pleased I was offered the opportunity to order itI’m a complete newbie to these sort of kits but in a few months time I need to have several months rehabilitation following major surgery.I’m collecting kits and different art and craft type things so that during the many hours I shall have during my rehabilitation where I won’t be able to do anything strenuous, at least I will have some pleasurable things to do to keep me occupied. The kit is really impressive looking but having looked at it and reading some of the reviews, the very well written - and helpful - reviews, I am beginning to wonder whether I might be biting off a bit more than I can chew with this kit, being a newbie. I hope not though.I will update my review and include photographs once I’ve started the kit and hopefully once I’ve completed it, 🤞I’m very happy to recommend

Well boxed, good size, Funand Made in Ukraine so very worth supporting them.
Lovely to see this is Made in Ukraine, so worth buying to support them if nothing else. But it is nice boxed and made and a great fun activity and model to make, that is spring powered - though it does a short distance so that is not really the point.Any slightly looser joints a dab of wood glue will sort. And the finished model is a good size, not small but not too large.Great for pre teens and adults alike.A touch pricey perhaps.

More ambitious all the time: Not one to start on.
These UGear wooden construction kits have got bigger and more complex over the years, I guess as the technology that makes them becomes more advanced, and this one boasts steering, suspension, and a spring motor among the 550 pieces. It's worth noting that these kits are not as simple as plastic or block kits, firstly because one is making quite complex, functioning mechanisms and partly because if you get one little thing wrong, it'll screw the whole kit up down the line.I'd also recommend a hobby knife, some wood glue, and a jeweller's file, and a big ol'box or tray to keep the whole thing in until it's finished, as if you lose or break one little part, it'll screw the whole kit etc...But that's part of what makes these kits worthwhile, the challenge. Pricey of course but this kit represents many, many hours of construction time, and ofcourse you get a heft display piece at the end of it. Five stars, but only recommended if you've made a few before.

So detailed
I gave this to my mate and his son to work on together. They said it has crazy detail and that it is really fun to put together. You definitely need to have some tools to hands just in case. A knife, some glue and a tray to put all the bits and keep them safe is ideal. There is no spare parts so be very careful when putting it together. ESPECIALLY if you are not doing it all in one session.

Detail detail detail!
This is the biggest and most complicated U-Gears wooden model I have made to date.It came in a colourfully printed retail carton and would make an excellent gift.It would be ideal for anyone over the age of 14 that enjoys a complex project that isn't made to look like a playschool toy because it is made of small colourful plastic bricks. It has 550 pieces and according to the description is a 10 hour build for an advanced builder!I'm going to take that as a compliment because it did take me almost exactly 10 hours to build including having to backtrack on a couple of pieces! It comes with a fantastically detailed construction manual that you must follow very carefully!I had to backtrack on two pieces only, the panel that the interior seats fix too and the flatbed I got the ends the wrong way round so had to deconstruct and redo these two pieces when I realised I had built them the wrong way round, so I would have completed the build in about 9 hours without this! The end result is a clockwork lumber truck that actually works, this is made even more impressive by its working four wheel drive and suspension systems! The front wheels can be positioned but are on a functioning rack and pinion system connected to the steering wheel. If you want to use it as a clockwork demonstration piece it is vital you wax all of the moving parts carefully and thoroughly and accept that even with this done it wont go very far, very fast or for very long before the wooden construction defeats enough of the moving parts to render it stationary! That said it is a fascinating study in how real differential systems work. The only advice I would give is to have a sharp craft knife or similar and a plumbers wrench like the one I have included an image of in my photographs, this makes some of the more difficult to get together pieces so much easier, with my aging hands I didn't have the strength to close them fully. This model does not have any of the flexible shaped panels that proven to be the undoing of most of my previous builds.Like all of these larger kits the last few stages are the most difficult when you are putting the bigger pieces together without breaking anything important, take your time, use a wrench like mine and you will be fine! This was a great way to pass a couple of rainy days with something constructive to do!Happy to help!
