Good basic vacuum, no problems with pet hair, good battery life, reasonably quiet
We have been using this NARWAL Freo X Plus Robot Vacuum and Mop for a month now. We use it to vacuum nearly every morning over the main living area of the house. It runs about an hour 45 minutes to clean about 1,600 square feet of tile. We have not used it in the main or guest bedrooms or office area, so far, as these are less frequently visited by our pets. We bought this unit for use as a vacuum and have not tried the mop, no plans to do so. Set up was fairly easy. Download the app on your phone. No problems with Narwal or app connecting to wi-fi. The app is not the most intuitive interface I've seen, but not too bad. Did not take Narwal very long to create a map of the area we use it to clean. One thing I learned was make sure you prepare the area to be mapped BEFORE you start the mapping or cleaning. Narwal cannot handle small throw rugs, or puppy pads, that do not have stiff backing. It does fine with larger floor mats that have enough backing to stay flat on the floor when Narwal goes over it. Position power cords next to baseboards or up out of the way so they are not pulled into Narwal. No string or thin cords. It does identify larger objects and navigate around but best to pickup any smaller objects. Position chairs and furniture so Narwal can access the desired area. We have 2 dogs, one a long hair fur factory, and a long hair cat. It is amazing how much hair Narwal picks up daily. Does a nice job with sand or dirt tracked in too. No problems with hair tangling or jamming brush. Vacuum power will adjust up or down automatically as needed, higher on carpet, lower on tile. It is not too noisy when operating on the lower power setting which is sufficient on hard surfaces. Battery life seems a plus, Narwal still has over 70% charge after vacuuming 1 3/4 hours. I would imagine that the charge would be used faster if you are cleaning a lot of carpet as Narwal will adjust to higher power vacuum on carpet. This model does not have the base station that empties dirt from the robot into a receptacle or bag. We did not want a model that required regular replacement of a bag. This model collects the dirt and hair in a container inside the vacuum. Narwal advertises that this bin will store up to 7 weeks of hair/dirt through use of compression. While the unit does automatically go through a compression cycle after each cleaning, we simply take the bin out of the unit, dump it and clean the filter after every use, very easy. There are more sophisticated models available, but for our needs and intended use this model works very well.

I LOVE this vacuum (and mop)
This vacuum is fantastic. It's not as fancy as their higher end ones, but it's a workhorse and keeps my house free from tumbleweeds of fur in between more thorough vacuumings with my plug in vac. We have a Great Pyrenees, a hound, and 4 long haired cats and this vacuum has lightened my load when it comes to keeping my floors clean. Pros: It covers the entire downstairs of my house in a couple of hours. I run it every night after all the pet toys are picked up and it doesn't keep anyone awake while it's running. It does a great job of sucking up pet fur, cat litter, and little cardboard bits from cat scratchers without anything getting tangled in the brush roll -- it's actually the only vacuum I've ever owned that doesnt get fur trapped around the brush roll. That alone is miraculous to me because lots of vacuums promise no tangles around the roller and none, even expensive ones designed for pet owners, ever deliver on that promise. The battery has never run out mid-clean and it always has been ready to use when I need to use it. It hasn't hurt any of my pets, even though my kittens thoroughly harass it while it tries to do its job. The mopping feature works well enough to keep my floors clean in between traditional moppings. It mapped out my house well and avoids obstacles well also. You can set areas that are off-limits and the vacuum will avoid those. It's easy to schedule cleaning or just open the app and send it on its way. The app is easy to use and keep track of when you last used it and how much it cleaned. You can also adjust the level of suction and how much water will be used when it mops, and you can adjust the volume of the little music it plays and the voice that alerts you of what it's up to when it's running. Cons: If you have lots of pets, you will need to empty the vacuum daily or at least every other day. The claim that you can go many days without emptying may be accurate for normal houses, but if there's a Great Pyrenees or another equally fluffy dog in your vicinity, you will have to empty more often. Along those same lines, this does not have enough suction to deeply vacuum rugs (and I assume carpet, but we have no carpet in our house). It will clean off any surface dirt or debris and will keep rugs tidy, but you will likely need a plug in vacuum to more thoroughly clean carpets periodically. The same goes for mopping. You can only use water in the vacuum when using the mop feature, and it's very helpful to help keep floors clean, but you will need to actually mop periodically. You may want to get a few extra mop pads if you're planning on using the mopping feature nightly like I do. And finally, it does occasionally get stuck on cords or small cat toys. It sucked up a little catnip fish the other day and I've had to reposition it maybe 3 or 4 times when it sucked up a cord, but it hasn't been a major issue, especially with the frequency it's used. (The cat toy was easily removed and caused no issues.) Overall, this little vacuum has cut down my workload and has made it so much easier to keep my floors clean. I don't have time to use my plug in vacuum daily, but keeping a clean house is important to me, especially with so many pets. This vacuum has made that possible and I wish I'd purchased it sooner!

Good vacuum / mop combo, double check settings right away!
Overall good vacuum for small spaces. I needed something with a smaller dock to fit under furniture and this fit perfectly. I like how it has up to 7 week dust storage, multiple mop nozzles, 2 brushes, and automatic mop lift. It also comes with extra mop heads and disposable vacuum bags. Its not the quietest but quieter than the roborock m8 which I also tried. The big issue I had was in the settings. For some reason mine came with "stairless mode" enabled, so it immediately jumped off the stairs when mapping my place and got damaged. I exchanged it and verified my new one didn't have this feature enabled!

Amazing Vacuum, Horrible Support
I'm hard on my robot vacuums. My house is roughly 80% carpet and I have 2 cats, 2 kids, long haired ladies, and run my vacuum every day. I'm on my second Freo X Plus. First one starting getting constantly stuck out in the open. I was within the return period so I sent it back and tried a Roomba J7+ which pulled nothing out of the carpet, rammed all the furniture, and went right back. Next I tried a Dreame L10S which seemed to pull just as much dirt and fur out of my carpet as the Freo and had way better mopping thanks to the dual spinning mops. That one became unresponsive and the only recourse was to send it in but I choose to return it. Because the Narwal Freo X Plus does so well with suction, and the brush roll really doesn't get any hair wraps I decided to give it another go. The first few months went well until I started getting side brush errors recommending cleaning the brushes or replacing them. The robot would be out in the open on carpet or hard floors and just stop. Using the App or pressing the button would send it off cleaning until the next error. Cleaning and replacing the side brushes made no difference. I contacted Narwal support and they got right back to me and asked me to power cycle the vacuum which didn't help. They sent me a FedEx shipping label and told me to send it in for repair. English is obviously not their primary language so instructions were not very clear. After some back and forth they explained that I didn't have to send in the accessories or the charging station, just the vacuum itself. Since I always save my boxes and materials I packed it just like I received it. I even inserted that foam strip back inside the bumper. I didn't receive any updates after that but I did receive it back within about a week. The box was practically destroyed (probably the shippers fault) but I was surprised they didn't double box it. When I opened the box the vacuum was much dirtier than when I sent it. It was just tossed into the box without much care. None of the protective foam was reused. On closer inspection I noticed some screws were missing. Not a good sign. I had to set up the robot again like when it was new and let it charge up since it was near dead. When I started it's first session it made it maybe 3 feet and gave the side brush error. They are now happening every few seconds. In the off chance I can get it to run for a few minutes it gets stuck on thresholds it never had an issue with before. I e-mailed Wing, my support contact, and explained what was going on and he is not replying like before. I haven't heard anything at all and they clearly didn't repair my Freo and returned it in worse shape than before. If they sold the parts like Roomba and other manufacturers, I'd try repairing it myself, but they only sell filters, brushes, etc...I'll keep trying to contact them and report back here.

Exceeds expectations!
Update: Right after i posted this, the map changed. It’s like an algorithm update happened because now the furniture on the walls show up as walls. Much preferred it before, where rooms actually looked like rooms. It’s possible that adding my dining room table triggered the remap. But it doesn’t explain why furniture is seen as the perimeter of the room now when before it wasn’t. This makes it marginally more confusing and harder to use no go zones etc cleanly. And because the edges are jagged, it’s harder to be certain the map isn’t changing on me. It’s been years since I had a robot vacuum and wow has the mapping and navigation technology come a long way! My last Ecovac’s map would always get messed up. With my Narwhal, it missed one room during the original mapping (had to delete and remap), but other than that its map and navigation are rock solid. The map never changes. When i move the vacuum it manages to figure out exactly where it is. The vacuum first goes around the edge of the room and gets all the nooks and crannies. During this time it may lightly bump into things. My cat’s low profile bowl got pushed several inches —not a big deal. Its side brushes did touch my cat while she was eating. Generally she stays out of its way. Beyond the edge cleaning, it doesn’t bump into anything and does neat, close rows back and forth, never touching the edge it already did. Object avoidance overall is impressive especially at this price range. The side sensors are placed low, which is also helpful to avoid low things. However, it will get tangled with cords, particularly small ones. So you will need to practice good cord management or place a no-go zone. (Which I trust, due to the solid map and navigation.) It does use LIDAR so I try to leave the light on for it. I have not tried the mop but i have a low pile rug and there is hardly any clearance between the mop and the rug, so I feel like I wouldn’t mop at the same time as vacuum ever. Oh, and the compression technology works, even if you don’t use the expensive baggie-filter combos. I just empty the container with the filter. Not sure how long it can go without emptying, but I can certainly go more than one week despite all my pet hair, long hair, and leaves. The main roller brush is truly tangle free. There is nothing you can do about side brushes though other than pop them off. The first time i ran it, there was such a build up of cat hair that it formed a tight hairball that could not enter the bin through the tiny hole (see picture). Other than that initial day i never have a problem. Oh it also has child lock, for those cats inclined to play with it (haven’t seen this come into play but like the idea). Best purchase in a long time. Oh, one other long unsolved problem besides the cords is that it has trouble with under 1” metal feet, such as the legs of my bar chair. It does crawl over them but has difficulty. This is nothing new or unique to this vacuum though. Overall I love it esp. for this price!

Impressive Robot Vacuum & Mop
Narwal is my first robotic vacuum cleaner and mop. I purchased this with the Amazon Echo Dot as required per the description; however, I have found that this robot can be used with the Narwal app which I downloaded to the iPad and iPhone so now I will be returning this Echo Dot. It has been a bit challenging to take advantage of all the features of this robot - like adjusting the pressure on our tile floors - as it was a bit challenging to figure out where these extra features were on the app. However, after figuring this out - my tile floors are much cleaner on both the vacuum and mop side. Many mistakes were made on my part in trying to address different situations - like the time I didn't go around my house to make sure all obstacles were out of the way and the robot carried a piece of paper under it until I realized it and picked the robot up (that's a no no) to remove the paper. Then the robot's GPS was messed up. We have 5 animals - 2 dogs/3 cats and 2 adults so there is alot of hair everyday and this robot does such a great job in keeping the house done. One needs to be careful when removing the mop to be cleaned since I don't wash clothes daily - and I almost forgot to tell robot to vacuum only until I was able to wash the mop. The app keeps track of the various parts that will need to be replaced. It tells you how many hours are left on the various parts so they will be replaced timely. After having the robot for about a week, there was an update to the app. The reviews on this update weren't great but I felt like I needed to update the app and when I did the app changed where things were located. Eventually this issue was resolved as I figured out where the functions I was looking at were located. One time recently the robot was somehow disconnected from the app and I tried resetting the robot, per instructions from customer service, but finally figured out that I needed to re-enter the password - in an area that was actually hard for me to see but once I did that the robot was engaged. Another time, I removed the robot from the base station and flipped it over so that I could remove any junk underneath it and remove the mop pad. When I turned it right side up and pushed it near the base, I thought it was connected but after awhile I realized that the light on the base station did not turn off like normal so I went to app and told it to return to base and it did. Now, I make sure that I push it properly into the base and all seems to be going well. Love this robot and can't recommend it enough. It's reasonably priced and cleans great. You do need to keep it eye on it - as one time I found it turning in circles - guess something threw it off it's GPS - but only had that problem 1 time. The robot app has alot of features but I don't use most of them - as I just don't really need it to clean just one room but all rooms. Our house is about 1,000 sq feet and to Vacuum/Mop at the same time - takes the robot about 45 minutes. Highly recommend.

Not a Good experience: Returned
I did not buy this for the mopping feature and never planned on using it. Like many others I was very diligent in my research and I really had high hopes. Ultimately I decided I would not stay frustrated with this product and sent it back within the return window for not functioning properly. We returned because 1) The mapping missed rooms. And despite watching videos there weren't any clearly simple way to add a room. In this case the app is just maddening and not user friendly. 2) The interface of the application is not intuitive.. For example even though it didn't map the house correctly I wanted to see how it did cleaning.. And the only way for me to do that was to start the cleaning experience but it seemed stuck on "vacuum & map" even after I changed it. There isn't a future where you could simply press the screen option of vacuum... As far as I understood you had to create a scheme and then choose it. I might be wrong about this, and I am a little bit older and perhaps less tech savvy as somebody in their thirties... But the application itself was very frustrating. I found it interesting that when I did initially press to clean and it was mapped to vacuum and mop initially it just seemed to scurry around and the brushes weren't moving, And it didn't sound like it was suctioning, so I assume it was thinking it was putting out water and washing the floor. I almost think that if the application is set to mop or mop and vacuum and it doesn't sense water in the chamber it should alert you immediately. This apparently didn't. 3) when I was assembling it, I took it apart and one thing that's slightly annoying to me is that in order to get to the dustbin you also have to remove the lid. Truly this is simple. Though it's a second step where I'm accustomed to a dustpan that slides out the side and boom it's there and you clean it out. 4) I decided also to try the dustpan with the bag feature. It also has this little insert that I would say perhaps helps compact any dust collected.. however I did not get it through when I saw how very small, maybe a 1-in square opening the unit has to suck in any dirt or in our case a lot of litter and cat fur. Technically a smaller opening coding crease the vacuuming suction, though it wasn't apparent in what it didn't pick up. 5) I let the machine run for about a total of 22 minutes and it ran on medium suction But didn't really appear to be pulling up enough debris... Miraculously I was able to figure out how to change it mid running to (what I think is super) and that couldn't even pick up the smallest pieces of litter... You could see this in the video. It seemed to pick up some but I need a power house helper and not a helper that only does so-so. I know no robo vacuum can replace a good deep cleaning but I really need something that can help reduce cat hair, litter and spouse debris during the week. 6) My previous robo-vacuum was a Eufy. I had it 4 years then the battery finally died. (I am very mad at Eufy over our security system and that is really why I didn't go back to the brand when I needed a new vacuum --and for no other reason. Since returning the vacuum I have decided to try the Eufy.) Frankly even though the non-mapping Eufy just bounced around and vacuumed wherever it wanted to, it's suction was phenomenal and it did clean well.. and I'm also spoiled by the fact that the forward spinning brushes had three brush arms.. The Narwal brushes only have two brush arms on each brush. As I watched it vacuum I noticed that it would throw things out from the brush like a small piece of cat food instead of allowing or guiding it to be suctioned up. I did think this was a relatively quiet machine. I really wanted to love the concept of the disposable bags though I can't imagine it would really hold as much as it claims... Yet on the other hand it doesn't suck up that much .. Or at least in for us. Someone bad would probably last incredibly long! A final God is that I realize that manufacturing around the world is really in a decline when it comes to quality control and it's very possible I got a crappy machine. But that said I didn't get an application that's different for my everyone else's and really for me the application was also miserable.

Impressive A+++
I have waited several months to post this so I had ample time to judge the Narwal Freo X Plus Robot Vacuum and Mop properly. I am extremely impressed with this machine. The mapping feature is accurate and precise. I love that after it maps your entire home, you can set up cleaning shortcuts for specific areas. Note, if you rearrange your furniture or get something new, it is simple to re-map your home. I have 3 cats and 1 dog so the daily hair and litter scatter creates a daily chore of vacuuming. With this Narwal, I can send it daily to areas of higher traffic and debris. It is just such a time saver and it scoops up all of the litter scatter and hair along the floor. That alone makes this machine worth every single cent I paid for it. The mopping feature is more like a dust mopping which is fine with me. Like a robot swiffer. In the video I posted, I selected the master bedroom and bath for cleaning. I do this daily. It is just such a time-saver for this pet lover. It vacuums every inch of the "mapped" area you select for cleaning. It cleans the edges then it cleans it like rows back and forth, kind of like you mowing your grass. Just in love with that. I had a different brand of robot vacuum years before and it just randomly vacuumed wherever it wanted to and never completely vacuumed each area. Another feature I love is that it never gets stuck. When it encounters a rug, it literally raises up and "walks" over the edge of the rug. I mean, wow! If it encounters something out of place from its usual mapping route, it avoids it. It goes around it. Nothing will take the place of a full size powerful vacuum and on your knees scrub mopping. I mean, come on. Don't buy this if you think this machine will take their place and you can be lazy and never have to vacuum or mop again. Don't be delusional. However, if you are like me and have pets, this machine is amazing. I love it, love it, love it. Great product. Highly recommend. A+++ Technology!

SOOOO GOOOD
I've been using the Narwal Freo X Plus for about a month now and I am so sad I waited so long to get it. It surpassed my expectations. It offers multiple speeds/suctions or the vacuum, which is great when I want to set it on at night! The little spinning hair arms grad all the hair in corners and under chairs. Even on the quietest and lowest suction setting, it still picks up all the dog hair and dirt my golden retriever leaves behind. What really impressed me was how well it corrects itself when my dog gets in its way or when it gets stuck on my mini carpets. The mapping feature is spot-on; it mapped my house perfectly, and the app is customizable and easy to use. Despite its size, the canister holds a surprising amount of dirt/hair and the roller has not gotten any of mine or my dogs hair wrapped in it! The water tank is a bit on the small side, and while I haven't used the highest mop setting, I wouldn't say the mop is fantastic. However, it does a good job of getting surface dust and dirt, so when I come home, my floors are dog hair-free and shiny! The sleek white design adds a modern touch, and considering its price, I'm honestly very impressed with the overall performance. If you're looking for a reliable vacuum that does a solid job, especially with pet hair, the Narwal Freo X Plus is worth considering.

A Solid, Smart Cleaning After One Year of Use
I’ve been using the Narwal Freo for over a year, and it’s been a great investment. The app is user-friendly and makes scheduling and mapping easy. One standout feature is multi-floor mapping, which wasn’t common in other models at the time—it works well, though there’s a bit of a learning curve to set it up. The build is sturdy, and the robot has held up reliably with minimal maintenance. It handles both vacuuming and mopping efficiently, and the self-cleaning mop system is a big convenience. Overall, it’s a smart, price-conscious option for anyone looking to automate floor cleaning. Still one of the best home purchases I’ve made.

Works only for a short period , poor after sales service
I have purchased this item for my use id doing quick cleanups. It has worked reasonably pm. However after spending this amount in the item, one week before 12 month after the purchase the unit failed to return to the base station, I have purchased additional warranty on this item at the time of purchase. Narwal has asked for a long list of items to investigate this, after a month of back and forth they asked me to send the base back to investigate. I am sending the entire unit back. And advised them I do not need a replacement or repair. I am totally tired of dealing with their poor after sales service. Please do not buy this item, you will be at a loss

3 stars to 4
Have had to call support twice in the first three days... I like that it doesn't run into everything. Freo mode is useless...have to go in and set your own preferences... Ran last night night while I was out...and got a notification that it finished....when I tried to start it this morning it said low battery....I checked the map and the thing stopped under my bed...not tangled, not stuck...just finished and didn't return to its dock.... In my opinion, I either received a dud....or this product is not worth more than 200 bucks. Update 3 months later. I added a star 3 to 4 and purchased a second one for my mother....on Sale....don't buy this this for 549 bucks...I feel like I over paid at 400. My package was missing a mop pad...only one resusable one came in the box. I spoke to support...but never received a resolution to this. The mapping feature is ....well...you have to divide a lot of spaces up...it doesn't seem to recognize doorways... Despite adding a chair to the map this thing will hump the chair leg for about 5 minutes before it moves on...ugh...I don't want to add a do not enter space there..I still want it cleaned...but the chair humping has got to go... I don't understand why it does not see the legs? It will chew up every cord on the floor....so be sure you have no phone cables or plugs laying out where it can get at it. It eats socks, underwear, hair ties get stuck in it and makes crazy noises...it will drag screwdrivers and other small tools making a racket.... I can't get this to work with Alexa commands...it works with Google...but if I want to clean only one room...I need to use my app on the phone... I never use the Freo mode...it really makes no sense...it doesn't pick anything up...the first few times I ran it in Freo mode...the bag was empty. So marketing gimmick? Idk. So good stuff...it's quiet...it picks up alot of debris if you turn up suction power....I love that it disenfectents the bag by drying it...so it's not a big deal when the dog takes a big drink and has water drips all over the floor... awesome. I love the disposable bags with filters. Its on sale right now with a 200 off coupon...I would pay 349 for it again...but not the 549.

The best robot vacuum !
I purchased the Narwal Freo X Plus for our new house and it's amazing. The robot is easy to setup, clean floor flawlessly and the mopping is really good. The robot adapt the suction power based on how dirty th floor is which means it's almost silent most of the time. The dust bin can hold a lot of stuff and compress and I can confirm that the roller never has hairs entangled which is great. (I used to have to clean the roller on another brand vacuum each time) The robot is really good at avoiding obstacles, very rarely bumping gently on something as the sensors are very efficient. The app is easy to use, you can schedule cleaning to suit your schedule (I have daily vacuum and twice a week mopping) and the Freo X Plus can be used on 4 floors/maps which will be more then enough for most houses.
