I’ve used this three times now and this is a rugged , well designed travel bag. Very high quality and couldn’t be happier with this purchase.

Love the bag and easy access pockets

I have owned some Thule products over the years (vehicle bike rack and backpack) and find them to be thoughtfully designed and well-constructed. This carry on is another example of the company’s ability to make high quality products.WHAT YOU GETThis carry on measures approx. 22” x 15” x 9 ½”. The back has a hard polymer shell; the sides and top have a thinner shell material that is covered in a textured nylon material. The back houses a telescoping handle and the bottom has 4 rotating/spinning wheels. There are 2 grab-straps (one on the top and one along one side), a luggage tag holder on the side, and a zippered pocket integrated into the top front that has a zippered mesh pocket inside. Opening the carryon reveals a shallow zippered mesh storage pocket about 3” deep. Integrated into the middle of this pocket is a stitched in “flap” with buttons on each end that can be snapped to the sides to create a divider. The other side of the suitcase has the deep storage pocket (+6” deep). There is a separate nylon zippered garment/storage pouch with compression straps that connect to the walls.PERFORMANCEWhile I have yet to use this as carry on, I have used it as an overnight/weekend suitcase and find that it has a good amount of storage capacity. The construction of the suitcase is quality as every zipper, button, pocket, etc. is well-constructed and operates very smoothly. The tubular telescopic handle glides into 2 distinct lengths and locks securely. The spinner wheels are “skateboard smooth” and glide effortlessly with absolutely no noise. It took me a while to figure out how the divider worked and see it as one of those little things that don’t seem important at first, but then you see how ingenious and convenient it is having a divider being added in such a subtle manner.The separate garment pouch was a little annoying at first as I didn’t know how to make use of it; it was just a loose zippered pocket floating around. Just like with the divider, I had to figure out how to use it with the connectors on the sides. Even the external pocket is designed well as it provides plenty of space to hold glasses, phones, and other odd sized items without disrupting the internal storage capacity or expanding the outside of the suitcase. The dual zippered closure of the main compartments is smooth and secure.Overall, this carry on has a portable design with ample space … again, I use it as a weekend travel suitcase, and it holds a lot. The overall look is modern and sophisticated with the clothlike feel and look, as well as the rounded corners that soften its suitcase-like appearance, without losing its rugged and water-resistant quality. The rolling capacity is like butter and better than any rolling suitcase I’ve ever used. This product is on the pricy side, but I do feel it is a high-quality carry on that is built to last. I’ve used my Thule backpack for almost 10 years and it is still in top shape. If you want a quality carry on that is thoughtfully designed and built to last, this is a worthy purchase.

The soft-shell Subterra Carry-on Spinner from Thule is a tremendous option for a seasoned traveler who packs with simplicity and utility in mind. It offers a zippered opening near the handle which opens into a decent amount of space for essentials -- think tickets, wallet, phone, etc. A carabiner clip inside of the mesh bag within the opening allows you to safely clip your keys for quick and secure access. Weighing 7.4 pounds, the bag has a matte black fabric (nylon perhaps?) exterior which feels rugged and decently cleanable in case of a spilled drink or a splash of mud. It's obviously not as easy to clean as a hardshell case, but that's a sacrifice one must make when opting for the versatility of packing in a soft-shell case.The telescoping handle adjusts with ease and the four rubberized wheels allow the bag to glide effortlessly! The wheels feel a bit soft and I suspect they will display some wear and tear with prolonged use, particularly if they are used outdoors, on roadways or over uneven terrain. According to the website, Thule offers a limited lifetime warranty on this model. Perhaps message them before your purchase to confirm whether that applies to Amazon purchases as well. The website also offers select replacement parts for sale if any issue your bag encounters is deemed not under warranty.There is a divider in the lid of the bag which is seen dividing a rain jacket from a pair of shoes in one of the listing photos. This divider can be unsnapped and flattened should it impede the storage of a different arrangement of items.The easily removed compression panel is large enough for me to store my laptop inside, which is a nice touch. The remaining interior of the suitcase is devoid of any zippers or pouches, save for a small mesh pouch on the outside edge of the suitcase which can be used to store very small items (think a business card, guitar pick, wad of cash, or pack of gum.)For added peace of mind, Thule is known for sustainable and ethical business practices, so you can feel safe knowing your purchase isn’t supporting child labor or climate change.This is by no means the most economical option in carry-on luggage, but if you have a little money to splurge and want something stylish that's ethically made by a reputable brand, Thule's Subterra Carry-on Spinner is your best bet!
