7 Pc Soap Carving Knives Set

The 7 Pc Soap Carving Knives Set, was a gift to my wife for Christmas. Even though it didn't arrive in time to give it to her for Christmas she was very delighted to get them. She has been using them and enjoy making soap animals and flowers. She just loves them!

This is sold as a soap carving kit but arrived with a label stating that it is designed for fruit. Needless to say, most of the tools barely survived one session. They would easily bend at the junction between the wood and metal with even light pressure, making all but one basically useless. I have since purchased a Yasutomo set. I have not used them yet, but visually and physically looks and feels much more sturdy .

My nine year old grandson has recently taken an interest in carving so we outfitted him with the works this Christmas. Knives, blocks of wood, soap to carve and the safety finger covers, and "how to" books. Even with all of this and 3 of us watching him and instructing him he managed to sustain a minor cut on his finger trying to do his first carving. The set is of decent quality although not superior; ok for beginners

Exactly what I expected.

The quality of the metal is very poor on this set. It's best use for me will be to serve as a pattern to make my own set of tools.
