But you have to be targeted for it to be an issue and is only really a problem if you do "fast twitch" gaming activities while targeted. A series of very many small TCP packets can be sent in a way that overwhelms the cable modem's buffers causing latency and jitter to spike to 100-150 ms while being targeted. There is a test on DSL reports that will test this TCP vulnerability for the PUMA chipset. Intel (chipset owner -> they bought PUMA from Texas Instruments several years ago) they did come out with a patch for this issue after about a year of it being in the wild -> my understanding is that the patch has been out since mid 2018 and should be pushed down to your modem by your ISP. I bought this modem (T25) and after having it provisioned by COMCAST/XFINITY -> I ran the TCP PUMA test and my modem passed without issue & performed just as well as the rental modem. You can buy this modem without issue or fear of this PUMA chipset issue...
