For over two decades now I have been doing dedicated Home theater and music room acoustical consultation with many installers in my local area. For years I have used RPG products for acoustical control which are quite expensive. I was tasked with finding acoustical products that are more value oriented for their clients with lower budgets without giving up performance and build quality. I ran across BXI Sound Diffusor, and decided I would give it a try.I would not call this a diffusion panel, but a scattering panel. Diffusion requires wells that have different depths and are much deeper as well. As a scattering device, they are excellent at making a hard localized reflection into many tiny reflections that are less perceptively noticeable to the ear.For those of you DIYers looking to build your home theater on a budget, this a must-have product to fine-tune the acoustical performance of your room. Rather than using absorption panels for my first reflection points, I used these instead. I had a bad lateral wall slap echo, and these panels eliminated it without removing energy from the room. The scattering this product offers allows for a more natural-sounding room that is not overly dead.I highly recommend this product and BXI's great customer service as well.

With absolutely no other room treatments in a very slappy clappy room with adjacent tile floors and a horrible echo, simply a pair of these on the back wall behind the speakers made a noticeable difference. Tonal balance warmed up and the soundstage became more focused toward the center back wall where the panels are mounted (too focused?). Lower mid range filled in and the thin tinny sound was reduced. You’re not going to fix a room with terrible acoustics with just two panels but this was a tremendous improvement for such a minimal investment. Audiophiles note: these appear to be four 12“ x 12“ QRD diffusers arranged in a quad to create a single panel. I augmented with larger 2‘ x 4‘ QRD panels from ATS at first reflection points on the side walls and that resolved the tonal balance issues completely for this room.

Not the real deal but it works. Good diffusion. Needs a little more glue, some cosmetic imperfections but you need to look closer for them. I wish they come ready to hung from the ceiling. Overall a good buy.

I purchased a pair of these to use for mid-range diffusion behind my kef ls50 speakers. (The ports on the speakers do radiate some mid-range from the rear.)I am very happy with the results. The soundstage is now deeper and more detailed.Ideally I would move the speakers further from the wall, but this will not work with my living room layout.The kef ls50 come with Port plugs For near- wall placement. I used the semi plugged port setup with the speakers 1ft from the wall.The diffusers are unfinished. Which means you can stain and varnish them as required or leave them unfinished.My wife was not too thrilled when I first put them up but she will get used to them :-)

I placed two panels about 3ft high behind my listening chair and it improved the sound in a way that subtle sound cues that wasn’t apparent before became more pronounced. Echoes and reverb on the recording became more fleshed out.

Good value. Saves you a little time.

I have four panels on the rear wall. My goal was to eliminate flutter echo and these panels did the job at a reasonable price.I also have absorption panels on the side walls and “bass” traps in the front corners. To retain acoustic liveliness I didn’t add absorption to the front and rear of my listening position. Now with quadratic diffusion on the rear wall, when I clap the sound quickly dissipates. My studio still retains the musical energy and liveliness I crave.As others have observed, visually they don’t appear to be hand crafted in the USA. In fact the panels are from China, so you have to be okay with that. You can find a USA alternative (not on Amazon) if you want to pay the price.Finally, USA panels from a company that specialize in sound state you need quadratics 11 inches deep for diffusion below 400hz. So unless Amazon has had an independent lab test the frequency range, I don’t trust what has been stated on their site.

These are great. I used them in my small control room and love how good they reduced reflections.Would like to buy again but they aren’t on Amazon no more…
