Worked perfectly!
I had a buddy who had a lot of old cassette tapes that he wanted transfered to MP3. I had another MP3 decoder but it wouldn't rewind the tapes. A lot of tapes would break and just not play. So I bought this one and it worked perfectly on 40 tapes in a row with no issues at all.

Has auto reverse. A little confusing to activate it.
I like auto reverse.

Easy transfer of cassette tapes to digital files; old time charm; some quirks
This is a quick solution to transfer old-time analogue recordings from cassette tapes to digital files. The device is built in a transparent case, so if you get some hype from seeing mechanical parts at work you will get a kick out of this. The instructions are going quickly over the cassette tape functions and then dig into step by step of software installing and use. Some notes:- the tape transport is silent and smooth, and the mechanical assembly seems well made;- the software included on the mini-CD is an obsolete version, and even if your computer does have a CD drive you should not even try installing from the CD for the risk of compromising your system. Audacity is freely available for download from its website, and the current versions for Windows and Mac OS are including the mp3 encoder Lame, unlike the mini-CD that provides Lame separately. The Linux version of Audacity still needs Lame installed on its own at this time, but the Linux versions is not included on the mini-CD anyway;- as a cassette player, this works but does not excel. The technical data do not mention anything about performance, like frequency response, wow and flutter, channel separation, characteristics that define the degree of fidelity in rendering tape recordings;- there is no sensor, nor a manual selector for the type of tape. This player makes no difference between normal bias, CrO2 and Metal tapes (sorry if I go too fast: cassette tapes had different types of magnetic material, and the recording and rendering required different parameters for each type, usually handled automatically by the tape recorder / player). Also, no Dolby noise reduction options. One can do corrections in the software, post capturing, but it would have been easier not to be forced to;- the batteries compartment opens inside the tape’s compartment. Took me a bit of head scratching both to locate the opening and to find how to actually remove the small cover. The instructions are mute on this;- this player has an auto-reverse function, so the tape plays both sides without needing to flip it in the tape compartment – OK, if you never used a cassette tape player before just skip the rest of this bullet, never mind, it’s fine. So, auto-reversing works but Fast-Forward and Rewind are still acting on the normal side of the tape, do not sense the reverted direction of play. Thus, Rewinding while in reversed play acts as Fast-Forward;- the outer package tells this is compatible with Windows 2000, XP, Vista and Win 7, and MacOS 9/X to 10.6 – pretty old stuff. The good news: it does work with Win 10 and Ubuntu 20, at least; I did not get a chance to test on a Mac;- there seems to be a cylindrical DC power plug on the left side, but there is no mention of it anywhere thus I would not be using it.Overall, quick and easy solution to digitize old recordings from cassette tapes. Maybe also a good show-and-tell for what the music listening experience used to be. I cannot rate this at full five stars due to the limitations, especially for the lack of support for different tape types beyond standard bias tapes (not even mentioned in the instructions). Still, a good solution for quick transfer to digital of standard cassette tapes.

Wouldn’t play tape.
Great size, but unfortunately wouldn’t play the tapes.

Works well for getting the CD music into the Computer
I am using this to transfer some old cassette tapes to my computer. The cassettes are 40 years old, but still work well. This device is simple to use and comes up as 'USB PnP Audio Device' in my PC device manager. And great that it runs off a powered USB 2 port. The Audacity on the CD is an old version. Just search for Audacity's website and download the current version which does include LAME for MP3 conversion. Personally, I will save my tapes as a .wav format, then convert the songs I want to put on a CD to MP3. Put the headphones in the jack just to check the volume that you are playing back the tape.on my machine Windows DirectSound driver works nicely.

Plays cassettes, but can't figure out MP3 conversion
I'm not a tech novice, but I couldn't figure out how to make this thing do the MP3 conversion from a cassette. It does play my old cassettes very well, so it makes a great walkman, but I can't get it to do the file creation. Maybe there's a third-party app that works with this hardware?

Great!
I like it so far, no problems and I’m super happy with its little safe keep bag it comes with too. I don’t really know the normal price for a cassette player but it seemed pretty good priced too.

Great unit!
I have needed a new cassette player, and I am thankful that this one also has the capability to plug into a computer. Sounds pretty good, cassettes are a little limited, but this does let you hear whatever they’re bringing to the table. I like the design of it as well.
