Accurate quick check of key water parameters.
Love these. Nice to walk by tank and at a glance be reassured to couple key water parameters. I’ve tested against my liquid drops and the results were spot on. I keep a set in all my tanks. One thing I’ve noticed is they seem to lose accuracy if allowed to dry or have air exposure like during routine water changes. I am going to start placing at the bottom of tank instead of near top where I have been using them.

Good quality product however I didn't read it correctly because the PH is for freshwater only. I have a salt water tank and couldn't use the PH monitor. The ammonia monitor works great. Shortly after I put it in my tank my water parameters went all crazy and the monitor turned blue. It was the monitor that saved my critters because I would have not known that my tank was outta wack with out it. I was able to save all my critters and get the tank back to normal quickly when I probably wouldn't have been the wiser with out it. Too bad the PH one wouldn't work.

Ammonia detector is useless - has killed 2 of my fish
Ammonia test badge always shows safe even when liquid tester shows water needs to change by more than 2 levels. Fish can be seen needing to change water but ammonia test badge shows safe. Note that I am using product in 9 gal fresh water aquarium. Save your money and fish for the liquid test kit. Don't be fooled by videos of people showing holding badge in air above pure ammonia container and it working; that is an extreme level compared to the actual use. That intense test might work but it is not the same as the performance required in the water and the much lower levels that can harm or kill the fish. Would you go in a radioactive area when your badge detects only glowing radiation matter? If only a percentage of the badges are defective, this company should include a test to certify and provide user confidence that sample of the product works. After trusting ammonia badge and having fish problems I got the liquid test. The liquid test was recommended by all the fish pet stores I visited. All recommended to me to get the liquid test instead of the test strips because of the inaccuracy of the test strips; they did not comment on this badge. My results with this product for the ammonia badge was worse that the test strips. The LIQUID TEST was VERY ACCURATE and is especially needed in the first several weeks of a fish tank when the healthy bacteria level and fish adjustment is so critical.

It worked for me
It works as a quick check between weekly water changes and water parameter checks. its not a replacement for a test kit, but it helps at a quick glance. I had to dose my aquarium with KanaPlex and after 2 rounds of treatment, the AmmoniaAlert showed me my Ammonia was up, granted it showed by 0.05. I checked with my water test kit and found that my levels were up to 1.0. The AmmoniaAlert only shows Ammonia levels in the water, but the water test kit shows a combination of both ammonia and ammonium. I believe that is were the difference in numbers comes from. I could be wrong though, like I said it works as a quick check in between water changes and water checks.

I would recommend, but....
These things really are great to have. The ammonia one is the best. I currently have 3 sets on 3 of my tanks. I'll probably buy more for my other tanks. Here's the but... The PH one claims to work for 3 to 6 months.. Well, which is it? 3 or 6? This is a pretty big window. I would say one month, tops. Let me explain something about aquariums for those who don't know. If your PH drops below a certain amount, your beneficial bacteria dies. Which means your cycle can crash. You really want to stay above 6. Even 7 is good. If your cycle crashes, you get an ammonia spike. And your fish can die. This is why these 2 alerts are good together. These 2 things are probably the most important thing to monitor. And most test strips and kits don't test for ammonia. The ones that do, like the master kit, are expensive and a real pain in the butt to use. You don't want to have to test all the time. And it's wonderful to wake up every day & have a look see at the alert to get a basic idea of what's going on. However, back to the PH one. I had it for maybe a month in a 55 gallon. It was reading low. So without thinking about it, I got some baking soda and mixed it into Jugs and raised the PH. Next day it was still reading low on the alert. So I tested the PH myself to find I had raised the PH to an unbelievably high level.. I then had to lower the PH. You'll see in the pictures I'll post the 55 is saying the PH is much lower than the other 2 tanks. I can assure you that the PH is in fact the same as the other 2. So the PH alert is almost useless after about a month. I really wouldn't put any stock into what they say, ever. Always do a 2nd test before trying to adjust the PH. I didn't the 1st time. I won't make the mistake again. As for the ammonia one, I read somewhere that they only measure toxic ammonia. This is a really good thing. Because chemicals like Seachem Prime will detoxify ammonia. And any other test will show the ammonia regardless. Having a test that only sees the toxic ammonia is amazing to me. Because at the end of the day, that's all you need to know about. I hope this review help you out. They work to a certain degree. But always test with a test kit before making any adjustments.

Spot on
I’ve had these both (ph alert and ammonia alert) for around 3 weeks now. Awhile back I tested my ph and it was at 8.0 and that’s exactly what the alert was reading and then tonight, I once again did the API test tube kit tests and as you can see in the pictures the alerts read completely inline with the API tests (I circled each reading in each picture. So ya I’m pretty impressed with them. I can’t say how long they will accurately read for or if they will read accurate for the specific time frames that Seachem claims they will (I will update my review after the allotted time has passed), but as of now I am impressed and fully trust them. Also, they arrived in perfect condition.

Seachem Alert pH and Ammonia for Freshwater
i use these all the time and i have found that they work well proving you are not using prime with it as well because if you do they can give a wrong reading the colour changes in the middle disc when there is a problem with the water this packet you get 2 you get PH and Ammonia and these ones are for freshwater so if you are wanting saltwater these ones wont work - there is a saltwater option though value for money on this item is good because you are getting them both and it keeps the water quality stable and good quality and it warns you there is an issue before it gets too bad
