WDT Flick Tool

I’ve been really happy with the Subminimal Flick WDT Espresso Distribution Tool. The retractable needle design is super convenient because it keeps the needles protected when not in use, which makes it much easier to store and travel with compared to traditional WDT tools. The build quality feels solid and premium, and the sleek design looks great next to my espresso setup. It does a great job breaking up clumps and evenly distributing the coffee grounds before tamping, which has noticeably improved my shot consistency and extraction. The needles are thin enough to work effectively without making a mess, and the tool feels comfortable to hold while using it. For the price, it feels like a worthwhile upgrade for anyone serious about improving their espresso routine. Simple, well-made, and effective definitely a great addition for home baristas.

This has been part of my daily morning coffee routine for the last two years. It’s been awesome and a joy to use. After a year, some coffee grounds got caught up inside it and it got a bit difficult to extend, but it turns out it’s pretty easy to take apart and clean out:) It also comes with several extra metal “antennas” to replace them if they bend. Also, the magnets make this so fun! It’s like a fidget toy and it sticks to the side of my espresso machine.

This is an awesome gadget. Sure it breaks up any clumping and distributes the coffee nicely like a WDT should. What I really love is the retractability and that I can hang it magnetically. The build quality is very nice and the compact size is a plus. This works well and I am very pleased with my purchase.

This is an incredibly satisfying WDT tool with impeccable design. The fact they opted for magnets instead of spring loaded is genius and I have full confidence this device will last me a very long time. The two mounting options of magnetic vs stand like a pencil is very convenient for multiple applications. It's got some weight to it which makes it feel quality too.

Really good wdt too. Really nice build quality and functionality. The magnetic part is a plus because it sticks right to the side of my espresso machine. The retract function protects the needles and it even comes with additional replacements.

Its slim form makes it easy to tuck away, but I honestly leave it out because it looks so clean and intentional. ☕ Fantastic Ground Distribution: Even though it’s designed for espresso, it works wonders with my pour over routine. Distributing grounds evenly before brewing has noticeably reduced channeling and helped me achieve more balanced extractions. It’s not magic, but it’s pretty darn close. 🧐 Is It Essential? Probably not. But is it useful? Absolutely. It’s one of those accessories that feels like a luxury add-on but ends up earning its place in the daily routine. If you're into coffee and appreciate gear that’s both functional and beautiful, the Flick won’t disappoint—even if espresso isn’t your thing.

I knew when I bought this that it was probably an unnecessary upgrade over standard WDT tools. It functions the same as others but with a bit of a higher price tag, but that price tag is worth it in my opinion. Tool comes with both a stand and a magnet to mount it on the side of your espresso machine and I’ve personally come to use the stand for the most part. Cleaning has been a bit of a challenge, I’ve noticed it’s hard to get grounds out of the sheath part that surrounds the needles when they retract but my solution has been solved by a simple turn into a microfiber towel. It’s honestly a great size, fits in your hand perfectly and feels natural to retract. The outside is a solid plastic, and the thumb press is metal which feels very high quality.

Handy to use. Love the tiny 3M stick magnetic wall mount which allows the tool to hang right off the side of the espresso machine out of the way.

I bought the Subminimal Flick WDT Espresso Distribution Tool to improve puck preparation on my Sage Bambino Plus, and it has proven to be an excellent piece of kit. The biggest advantage is the clever flick mechanism. With a simple press, the needles extend for use and then retract neatly back into the body for storage. This makes it far more practical than many WDT tools where the needles are permanently exposed and easy to bend or damage. Build quality is excellent. The tool feels solid, precise and well engineered, with a premium finish that reflects the Subminimal brand. The needles are thin enough to break up clumps effectively without over-agitating the coffee bed, which helps create a much more even distribution before tamping. In use it is quick and intuitive. A few light passes through the grounds noticeably improves consistency and reduces clumping, resulting in a more even puck and more predictable extraction. For anyone trying to dial in espresso or improve shot consistency, it is a very helpful addition to the workflow. The retractable design also makes it easy to keep on the counter without worrying about damaging the needles, which is something that can be a problem with traditional WDT tools. Overall this is a thoughtfully designed, high-quality distribution tool that makes puck preparation easier and more consistent.

Prodotto fantastico dal design geniale e minimal nella confezione sono presenti aghi di ricambio una base molto pesante e stabile per tenere in posizione verticale e una basetta magnetica per attaccarsi in qualsiasi posto volete … gli aghi non sono in verticale ma leggermente inclinati verso l’esterno per funzionare meglio …lo adoro Prezzo un po sopra la media ma ragionevole rispetto hai materiali utilizzati e il design Molto consigliato
