Great workout tool
I've only got this yesterday and I'm already very enthusiastic about this product. I'm relatively a beginning drummer, only returning to this instrument 3 months ago after a very long break, so I'm constantly on the lookout for ways to improve my hand technique. I'm working on rudiments and Jojo Mayer's "secret weapons" and trying to improve my control and speed by working on these in ways that will keep challenging my hands. I have sticks ranging from 2B's to very light maple sticks, and also brushes, which actually give a very similar workout experience to this because they have almost no rebound at all. I've been working on Evans RealFeels and pillows. This pad is slightly easier than brushes, because it does have a bit of a rebound. The pad doesn't absorb all the energy, but does give a little back, in a way similar to a floor tom tuned very low. Unlike brushes, it does give very good definition to my strokes, so it's less forgiving to inaccuracies and encourages me to try higher and higher speeds. It's also much nicer than pillows which are a mess to set up, and also tend to give a rather discouraging training experience. The bottom line is that it's fun to practice on this pad, and the most amazing thing is that even after only maybe 30 minutes of practice on this I immediately felt the effect of this workout on my technique on the RealFeel and on the actual drums.

The best
This pads are amazing I’ve been looking for a long time for a truly quiet practice pad, finally found it and they fit the dwsmart practice base. 100% recommended.

Item received not as advertised.
Item received was 1 pack of moongel damper pads, not the 7” workout pad as listed.

Wrong
I ordered this one but the other corny small model came :(. I tried to exchange but I know it's gonna be a headache.

It's an excellent practice tool
It's an excellent practice tool, however I think for $40 or so, you should get a little more quality. The retaining ring is flimsy and has small rips and cracks. The base is lightweight plastic that slides around, and the actual moongel is is even poorly put together. Mine is not even fully rounded leaving creases in the playing area. Could be so much better!

Very Quite
Very nice drum pad it is super quite i usually use it as a warm-up tool or for night time practice. If you haven’t built up a decent amount of chops i wouldn’t recommend this for beginners.

An excellent drummer's hand exercise tool
I like the RTOM MoonGel product because it makes practice of drumming exercises much harder and builds the muscles of the hands. This is because the MoonGel has no bounce to it like a rubber pad or snare drum head would provide, and it forces the hands to work for every part of the stroke. Using it has greatly improved my double-stroke roll, paradiddles, and single stroke rolls too. Worth the investment!
