It really does muffle the heck out of the drums
When my 4 year old's godfather said he'd give her his old drumset, I immediately started seeking a way to reduce the volume of the drums. These are awesome. Sure, the drums are still audible and drums are never quiet, but it most definitely reduces the volume, even when I bang around on the drums. They fit the kit perfectly. Of the four pads, the snare is muffled the least, but that's understandable. Snare drums are incredibly loud by nature. The claim of 80% doesn't seem off the mark to my ears.If you need to muffle the drums to practice or have a kid that's learning, these will be one of your ears' best friends...both ears.Although it's not this product, we did buy the cymbal mutes as well. They definitely keep the noise down, but they absolutely kill the way a cymbal sounds. There's nothing satisfying about the sound and given how small they are compared to the cymbals, both my kid and I end up missing the mute about half the time. Sounds like crap, but it's muffled so those get a thumbs up from a sound reduction stand point!

Very nice drum mutes
Very nice drum mutes. they fit very well and work perfectly to allow me to practice and not disturb others. Just so you know, they completely mute the sound of the drum so don't think that these are to be used to just tone the sound down. I would certainly recommend these to anyone who would like to practice and not disturb others.

Easy fix for lack of "rebound"
The pads fit nicely, seem well made. The only problem is the lack of stick 'rebound' when playing, a common complaint in these reviews. There is a simple solution. The reason for the lack of rebound is that the drum head underneath isn't stiff enough to support the pad firmly. What I did was cut circles the same diameter of the pads from 1/4-inch thick tempered Masonite. Then with a 2 X 2-inch square piece of double-back tape [in the center of the pad] stuck the pad to the Masonite. Now with the firmness of the Masonite backup, the stick rebound approximates that of hitting the real drum surface.

They are fine but not as sound-proof as I'd like
These are relatively thin foam pads, which fit perfectly onto the drum heads. The material is probably 1/4 inch thick and softens the sound but does not really deaden it as much as the much more costly Remo Silent Stroke drumheads. I realize this review is only about the Sound-Off mute pack but is you are considering the Evans Sound-Off for the bass drum, it is unfortunately pretty much worthless - although the concept is okay.Depending upon how much sound-deadening you are seeking, these Evans mutes may be okay. I bought mine for our son's basement kit, and with the door closed, i can hear the drums almost as if nothing was on them. Not sure whose ears they are protecting...

Keep your neighbors and family happy with these drum mute pads
I like to practice on my drums a lot. I moved into a house with high ceilings and floors that weren't carpeted, and well you get the picture. My family was complaining and my neighbors weren't exactly smiling at me when they saw me outside. I needed something that would allow me to practice and still retain some of the feel of a real drum. These helped a lot. They cut the noise down a lot and still allow enough feel and bounce on the drum to translate over to playing on the drum head directly. And best of all, my family and neighbors are much happier now. If you need a solution to mute your drums, these are highly recommended.

Worked as advertised
My 9 year old son started drum lessons about a year ago and adding these to his drum kit in the home enables him to practice without as much ear protection and makes it reasonable to be in nearby rooms when he is doing so. They were pre-cut so they fit easily right out of the package. He says it feels pretty close to the same when he is using the drums with or without them so his skill building is also not hampered.
