Q: how hot will this mat get in the sun?

Yes it is metal so in direct sun it will. However we keep ours covered when not in use. But using in sun not an issue since it will be hot anyways lol. You do need to plan use as you need to get the fire lit and wait for oven ad stone to heat up prior to use otherwise this is awesome.

Q: Can I use this mat on a durable plastic table?

Yes, you should be able to do that. It is very thin and slippery so if you put something on it that may slide I would also put some type of rubber mat over it.

Q: can this mat be cut with scissors

Yes it can. It’s thin but functional
