A great gift!
Purchased as a gift for a family member's little one - they were thrilled! Such an unusual option and well worth a punt if you are unsure what to buy for a birthday gift!

Entertaining
My 8 year old grandson loves this. Some of the experiments didn't quite work as they should have.

Basic Science Set But Good
This is a basic science set. Although it states 110+ experiments some are variations of a theme and some might require other things you've got lying about the house. The kit comes with plastic flasks, test tubes, bi-carb etc. The proverbial conveyor belt of stuff. The 'chemicals' included are all stuff you're likely to have already which means you can take it to the next level. Kids will benefit from adult supervision not because the experiments are dangerous but because adults will want to take this to the next level. It's great that you've got everything you need rather than having to find stuff like spoons, jars and such like. This is raring to go out of the box. All 'chemicals' are clearly labled and instruments (spoons, stirrers) are colourful which adds to the entertainment. The experiments themselves are easy enough done with no complicated processes involved. Where this scores is the two colour experiment manuals that come with it. These are the biz. Each experiment is shown with colour photos and no long winded explanations. The instructions are as clear as glass. This is where the adults come into play. An adult mind will want to expand on the experiments in the manual and take the Olympics approach...faster, higher, stronger. This set is just touching on the fun things you can do at home in the name of science (more likely in the name of making a mess). A wee shoofty on the net will supply you with all the knowledge required to go faster, higher, stronger. A fun kit for the budding scientist.

A blast from the past……
This is similar to a set I had a few decades ago… It is a great set for my grand children on a rainy day. With over a 110 different experiments, it can be used for several hours, so ideal when the grandchildren stay over or visit for the day.The bits are all in one small box. As with another same brand item, it is so tightly crammed, that a couple of the bits were squashed or damaged. This was disappointing, although we had things around the house like a plastic cup to use instead. You need a degree in a known block game to get it all back in the box too.The experiments are safe, although with younger ones, supervision and help may be needed. Some of the parts are very poorly made, although do serve their function. This is a great learning kit for the children whilst having fun.The instruction book is really good. Very clear instructions and photos, with step by step guides to each experiment. So many in the past have not been, but that is where this kit excels. Older children are easily capable of following the instructions themselves. All in all, this is a good set, that has educational fun learning to it.

A great kit, considering the price
This science kit comes, crammed, in a colourful and enticing box.Upon opening, it is full to the brim and includes a very comprehensive set of items, great as you don't need to scour the kitchen for that random pot of baking soda. Where you do need to provide extra materials it is clearly stated at the beginning of the experiment. There were a couple that required a cabbage but mostly it seemed to be liquid ingredients, such as water, oil and vinegar. If you've ever dabbled with science at home (we certainly did during lockdown) there are a lot of familiar experiments in here but it's always fun creating an erupting volcano, crystals or inflating balloons with gas.I liked how clearly the instructions were laid out, including colour photographs to bring the pages to life and the fact that they've made it easy by supplying even the basic stuff like paperclips and measuring spoons. This thoughtful approach means you can literally open the set and get started straight away. The only niggle was the crushed nature of a couple of the flimsier plastic items, the box is so tightly crammed with stuff that they were always likely to sustain damage.Overall, for £19.99 (at time of review) this is a great kit that will provide hours of entertainment (and education) for budding scientists - just make sure they wear the, supplied, safety goggles!
