Sable Peak: (The Edens #6)

It's hard to believe that I had never read one Devney Perry book before this year, and now she's probably my top-read author for 2023. The first book I read of hers this year was Indigo Ridge, book one in the Edens Series, so it's only right that the last of hers I read this year is Sable Peak, the final book in the series. And what an ending it was.Perry has a magical way of weaving together people, plots, and storylines that are unexpected to the reader. At the end of Crimson River, we meet Vera - the goddaughter of Vance, Lyla's husband. She quickly, yet quietly, becomes a member of the Eden family and spends the first two years regaining her sense of self after being on the run with her dad for several years before. She's observant, caring, and finds a way to make herself useful to everyone.After fighting her attraction to Mateo for long enough, she finally gives him a reason to notice her and notice her he does. The concept of "seeing" one another is constant throughout because it's in the quiet way that they love each other. They encourage one another to grow, they encourage another one to pursue their dreams, to do things that scare them, make them happy. They also have secrets from one another that take a true understanding and belief in trust to overcome.Their relationship felt so natural, yet the way Perry writes the pining felt by Vera in the beginning doesn't leave you once she and Mateo get together. It was sweet to get Mateo's POV to feel his struggle with showing and convincing Vera that his love was real and true, and not just convenient.I loved that Mateo was the last in the series, as he was able to mature and grow over the years the series takes place - while also remaining the youngest sibling in a family of six. The epilogue is the most beautiful wrap-up of a series I've read this year. It gives a little bit of everything and I didn't feel like I was missing anything.Reading this series was one of the best reading decisions I made in 2023. If you haven't yet - I recommend it to all.

Vera and Mateo's story was so good!! I was intrigued from the first page and couldn't put the book down! I have loved the entire series! 💙💜

Sable Peak is officially my favorite book in The Edens series! I have loved them all but there was something extra special to me about Mateo and Vera's story. It was beautiful and heartbreaking at times but absolutely worth the ride. I loved the build of Vera’s unrequited love exploding and Mateo truly seeing her. It had the perfect amount of sweet and entertaining moments mixed with emotion and healing and I loved it all.I loved Vera from the start but the more I learned, the more I loved. Her strength and courage were phenomenal. I loved how hard she worked to find a new normal while moving on from a difficult past. I really loved Mateo and watching him grow throughout the story and really come into his own. I felt for him so much but I loved how he handled everything that came his way and the build to learning all those details. I really appreciated how the story was set up in the beginning and how it developed, learning about Vera’s life and her crush on Mateo. I was filled with anticipation for Vera to share her feelings and when that moment finally came, I was incredibly choked up. Together, Mateo and Vera were exceptional. I loved watching them fall in love and find their path together, and really figure out what they wanted in life. There were so many wonderful moments and scenes that made my heart feel full.This was such a well-rounded story, with each new chapter came more details that sucked me in. I loved all the feelings happening, the mild drama and tension, and I was hooked as everything unfolded. I kept waiting for that moment when Vera would share her painful past, I held my breath when the time came. It was raw and painful and cathartic. I had a million questions about Mateo and Vera’s lives, their pasts, and her dad, and I was thrilled that I got all my answers. Then there's the Eden family. They love hard and care for one another so much and all the scenes with them made me happy.There is not one thing about this story I did not love. I didn't want it to end, I tried to pace myself, but every time I read my eyes flew over the page because I just couldn't stop reading. I’m sorry The Edens series is ending, but I thought this was a fantastic way to say goodbye. I loved it so much!

Man, I'm sad this series is over, but this was honestly the perfect way to end this series. Mateo and Vera were so great for each other, and the way they both pushed and supported the other person was just perfect. It was a little slow to start for me, but it picked up so quickly, and honestly, I think those first chapters were so freaking integral to the rest of the story. They gave you such an amazing understanding to Vera's character and her strength.Things I loved:- Vera. The strength she has throughout the entirety of this book is something to strive for. She never backs down from her wants and dreams, and with her history, that is truly amazing. I also love the vulnerability she start to allow herself as she grow closer to the entire Eden family. That is even more proof of her strength.- Mateo. Boy he may have been oblivious at the start of this book, but by the end of it... the love her has for Vera and his daughter, Allie, is so freaking swoon worthy. I loved the way he constantly supported Vera, always giving her the support she needed and always pushing exactly where she needed.- The Edens. That family. I don't know how to put into words how much I love the Edens as a whole. The love they have in their hearts is just amazing. While this isn't a series you need to read in order to enjoy any particular book in the series, it is one I would 100% recommend reading in order. The Eden family is so freaking loving that every interaction you get in any of the books instantly became a favorite for me. And the way they bring others into their fold, unparalleled.- The story. The entire story was just so beautifully written that I don't know how to pinpoint specific moments to talk about. There truly wasn't a single part of this book I didn't love, even the slow start.- The slight mystery/suspense subplot. It's not really a primary focus of this story, at least in my opinion, but it's there, and I loved it. I think having read Crimson River it makes that part of the story even more intriguing as Vera's backstory is first explored in that book, though it is definitely explained in this one too.- That closing line. 100% the perfect way to end a series, and I will die on that hill if I have to. There are an abundance of quotable moments in this book, I will struggle to pick my favorites, but the closing line of this one, I honestly don't know what could have been better. This one was the best one out of all of them. I still find her dads story unbelievable but it’s a fake story so I’ll leave them alone. The bar scene was so cringy!! I almost died of embarrassment for her action! But it got her the guy in the end. I also like the time jump and how they didn’t just jump into a relationship and have babies. It was a good love story. Love that in the end he supported her and hiding her dad.

Oh how I really wanted to love this book more.Matteo and Vera and great together and watching them fall was amazing, but I just wanted so much more between them and Matteo’s daughter.Don’t get me wrong I loveeee Mateo and I loved Vera, but so much of this story is focused on jumping timelines, month to month. Then a good chunk is focused on Cormac. Now again don’t get me wrong I wanted more cormac and I think that sort worked out beautifully. But compared to the other books, the constant jumping and long timeline of this book just made it fall flat to me. These two are still an amazing couple and I love the Eden’s! But I sadly have to say because of the way it’s written this one’s at the bottom of the list in the Eden’s for me.Also loved the epilogue, but again, I just felt it fell alittle flat compared to previous epilogues. I wanted more of the main couple and maybe some of the rest of the Eden’s but I didn’t really feel we got a lot of that either this epilogue.

But more than that, she’s always felt invisible to the elusive last of the Eden siblings. The family has always mentioned Mateo and his adventures as a pilot that rarely bring him back to Quincy. Vera thought it was hard admiring him from afar, but when life brings her unrequited crush back into town for good, her heart is a mess.After years away, Mateo knows it’s finally time to return home. Especially when an unexpected phone call rocks his world. He’s going to need his support system more than ever now that he’s a father. (Much to his surprise!) Returning home always feels like no time has passed. His siblings just pick up where they left off and throw projects at him, and this time should be no different. Except when he returns home, there’s an extra place setting at the table for Vera.Devney Perry is such a talent. It boggles my mind that there are writers like her that exist. She has created such a beautiful world and I’d love to exist inside her brain for just a day. I just can’t fathom how she does it. The way this book started was so different from the rest of the series in the best way. I told myself I’d only read a few chapters before bed, but suddenly it was hours later and I couldn’t believe how quickly it had sucked me in. In part one, we see the world through only Vera’s eyes in a series of snapshots that take us through the months, and finally explains more about her mysterious background. Then in Part two is where we get a look inside Mateo’s head for the first time. And wow was I loving the way it all played out.The rest of the plot I’ll just have to let you discover for yourself. I will say that it was the most heartfelt freakin love story I’ve read in a while. There’s so much emotion and healing between these two, and I bawled like a baby when I reached the end. It truly is the end of an era, and the last line destroyed me. There’s something to be said about the strength of found family. I feel like I need to just stare at a wall in silence for a few hours because it was that good. But let’s face it, no amount of preparation would have made me ready for the end of this series. I just don’t want to say goodbye. I love these characters, this family, and the mysteries that came along with each couple.I’m delighted to see that there’s a set up for a second generation spin off. It’s very subtle and isn’t guaranteed, but she left room for the story to continue if she ever wishes to return to these characters someday. All while tying up the story fabulously. No matter what she chooses to write next, I cannot wait to see what we get.

I have loved so many stories in this amazing series and fallen in love with so many characters that it really feels like I am saying goodbye to them in a way. I don't ever want to leave!Mateo and Vera's story is such a perfect way to say goodbye to The Edens. With glimpses into the beautiful life everyone has built and their own amazing story, it was the cherry on top.My heart was breaking for Vera in the first half. That agony of unrequited love... ugh, it was just so painful. That girl deserved to be cherished and I wanted it for her! Mateo is such a sweetheart and such a good dad. He would do anything for Allie and I loved that so much. He was also so patient, so kind, and so understanding when it came to Vera and her apprehensions about being back into a "normal" life. He balanced letting her chase after what she was looking for while also keeping her feet on the ground and being realistic about what was possible. At the same time, Vera was so encouraging of Mateo finding his own way and doing what he loved that it was so touching. Vera's relationship with Allie... THE BEST! They just were a family. They were meant to be. Meant to fit like pieces in a puzzle. I just loved everything about this book and I could not put it down. And I'd be lying if I didn't say the epilogue and bonus epilogue had me so emotional as well.To Anne and Harrison, Griffin and Eden, Knox and Memphis, Foster and Talia, Jasper and Eloise, Vance and Lyla, Mateo and Vera... and most importantly, Devney Perry–thank you for letting me love your family. I will continue to hold them so fiercely in my heart, with honor, forever.

I loved this story about Mateo Eden and Vera Gallagher. I loved their journey to them finding their happy ever after.

This book was a double edged sword because the book itself was amazing but at the same time I’m so sad this is the last of the Eden family stories.This series is one of the best series I’ve ever read. The writing in each book is top level, the stories are captivating, emotive and addictive. You fall in love with every character, feel every emotion as if you’re alongside with them. Truly get lost in this world as soon as you start reading (so be prepared to not be able to do anything else other than read when you start these books)There is just something so wholesome about the Eden family you can’t help but wish you’re apart of it.The MMC Mateo is figuring his life out as a single father, his main priority is his daughter and finding out he was a dad was shock enough, let alone a single dad with no idea what he’s doing.The FMC Vera is trying to find out what a ‘normal life’ is supposed to look like. Hiding for the last 4 years doesn’t scream normal and it’s worse when her crush doesn’t even see her, she hopes with patience one day he will but there is only so long you can hope the boy you like will notice you before you take action.Both Mateo and Vera were trying to find their way in their own lives, figure out what their futures held and what it was they actually wanted, before they realised it might be each other.This book like every one of this series was just beautiful, strong and purely love.I’m so glad I own this series and can go back and relive the Eden family time and again5⭐️3🌶️

Na Crimson River had ik echt gehoopt dat Vera haar eigen boek zou krijgen – en dat kregen we gelukkig ook. Sable Peak stelde absoluut niet teleur.Toen ik hoorde dat Mateo een kind had, was ik even bang dat het verhaal misschien te veel drama zou krijgen of dat er een irritante ex in beeld zou komen. Maar Devney Perry heeft het juist heel mooi en volwassen aangepakt. Geen overdreven drama, maar gewoon een eerlijk en oprecht liefdesverhaal, met realistische uitdagingen.De chemie tussen Vera en Mateo voelde echt en geloofwaardig aan. Zoals altijd zorgt Perry voor een fijne mix van romance, emotie en een beetje spanning, waardoor je blijft doorlezen.Voor mijn gevoel is deze serie echt underrated. Ik zie er veel te weinig van voorbij komen en dit is serieus de beste serie die ik tot nu toe gelezen heb.Ik hou van Elsie Silver, maar deze boeken hebben zoveel plot, mysterie en een goede hoeveelheid spice. Daar kan weinig tegen op! Kan niet wachten tot ik weer z'n serie als deze vind. Jammer dat ik heb uitgelezen heb <3

Um série de livros tão maravilhosa tinha que ter um final assim! A trajetória de Vera e Mateo envolve o auto conhecimento e a construção da confiança entre eles. O início pela perspectiva da Vera tornou ainda mais mágica a história.

I really though it can’t get any better. I loved this book. It was so much more than a just a love story. Really sad that the series is finished now.
