Non-Drug Treatments for ADHD: New Options for Kids, Adults, and Clinicians

My kid was having hard time being like other normal kids & my spouse kept selling me that with age things will improve. He didnt & I was getting suspecious about the root cause when he was around 12. So after working with his primary physician, we found that he has ADHD spectrum. Lot of things became clear. However the question was whether to use medication or other non drug form to treatment. I explored many things like meditation & focus games which didnt help. I resorted to research like this book & started to find cure in form of food. Certain food helps to calm down & some others(colors esp) make ADHD worse. Dont want to get into detailed explanation about the contents inside the book, but I would highly recommend reading this book than putting kids on medication(unless they are uncontrollable) Psychiatric drugs have long term health side effects & it takes a while for physician to calibrate the dose. No drugs provides instant relief & hence pls invest into their future by bringing awareness into their condition(while discovering about yours too - because adhd is genetic disorder)

I have been waiting for this book for 20 years, which represents most of the time that I have been a parent of my now 26 year old son with ADHD. As the parent of a child who didn't tolerate meds, and now who as an adult won't consider putting pharmaceuticals in his body, I spent years trying to get this information. Traditional doctors, as well as the ADHD support community, know almost nothing about alternative treatments. Also, in all the years I searched the field of alternative medicine, I also found very little. I am so appreciative of the comprehensive and thorough job these doctors have done. This book is well-organized and extremely readable. It is also very well-researched, and is providing me hope that I haven't had in a long time. Thank you Dr. Brown and Dr. Gerbarg!

This is the first book that I have seen with non drug, herbal remedies and I plan to buy them. I've already looked up Dr. Naram's products as well. My son is on focalin, but I want hiim off medication at 9 years old. So I plan on buying a combination of herbs. I already tried some herbs---but my problem is that they are not strong enough to calm my adhd son. Thank you so much for the advice. AMerica needs to get off drugs.

I am a clinical psychologist and I highly recommend this book to anyone affected by ADHD. This is truly an excellent presentation of useful information on ADHD. Most readers will have an understanding of what is being presented regardless of education level and familiarity with the literature on this topic. I recommend this book to anyone affected by ADHD, parents, teachers, and professionals.

This book is really fantastic for those who deal with ADHD. I only wish there was an updated version!

liked the documented science supporting each claim about each drug. Liked the fact there were tables that told you where/how to get the drug. Index could have been more complete.

Really appreciate the way it was written, I felt that many of the suggestions probably will go unused in my family's case as we are only mild sufferers. But it is truly a good feeling to have more options and avenues to seek help should ones situation worsen. Thanks
