I have no brand preference for most painting supplies, paints etc. I've had great paint jobs using the box store acrylics, that look as good as those expensive paints.. So for a varnish/clear coat I just want it to go on easy and not attack the paint beneath it. This Matt varnish did a great job on a N scale structure project and an HO scale loco paint job. It thinned down great for airbrushing, and it flowed great when used with a fine broad brush, the brush lines flowing out to a even finish pretty quick [I do thin just a wee bit more for brushing.. just to make sure]. It's too early to comment on yellowing, but none of the acrylics I have used over the last 10 years has yellowed. I won't hesitate to repurchase again!

Applies easily. It’s fairly thin, didn’t leave brush marks and didn’t cause any change of color (used on acrylic paint on canvas). The matte finish is very nice, meaning it’s basically not noticable. There was no flaking or cracking. There is no way to know how well it lasts, but it seems like a good choice.

This is good matte varnish. Until I ordered this, I had only used the gloss. I really like this better. It goes on smooth, and it dries quickly. My only problem is that it takes no time at all to go through the whole bottle. Even so, I'll be ordering more.

Great for rock painting. We have a little thing around northern Michigan where people leave painted rocks all over. I wanted to paint some and use the varnish to protect them. The matte is perfect for this. I let dry over night. Good to have this small amount and fuss with a can.

So, you need to:1. spread this as fast as you pour it out2. watch your brush strokes as you spread it (they can be left behind)I find that you can water this down a bit, to lessen both of the above.The finished matt look is clear and it doesn't interfere with the colors beneath.The price is fair.
