Great little computer
Great little bit of tech, would highly recommend getting a case and fan for it, but it performes very well for such a tiny board. Please note if you're using it for a media center, not all hardware codecs are supported currently (is in adaptation) so some media may play in software mode (not as good on 4k television)

Perfect kit
Perfect kit! Not much else to say, other than I threw it together quickly for a new 3d printer and couldn't be happier.

Impressive Little Credit Card Sized Computer
The raspberry pi 5 is really powerful for the price. I've never tried it but i expect it to be able to edit video and render in a decent time. It could probably edit 4k too. If you want fast, rock solid performance get an nvme hat and an m key gen3 ssd. Don't pay extra for speed because the pi is only going to get 1/4 the speed because of the single pcie lane. Make sure your ssd is compatible(most are) and put a heat sink on it, maybe a fan if you are doing write intensive workloads like recording video, and get a cooler for the pi too, i like the official cooler, or you could get a passive heatsink if you want it to be silent. Just be sure to get one that contacts all of the chips especially the power delivery next to the usb c. Don't forget to set your pcie link speed to gen3 instead of gen2 to get faster speeds. You can do this by opening terminal and typing "sudo raspi-config", selecting advanced options, then pcie link speed. Also update you eeprom with the raspberry pi image by going to misc utility images, then boot-loader, then selecting nvme/usb boot. once you flash an microsd card put it in you pi and wait until the led either turns off or stops blinking. If it doesn't work try another card. Microsd cards will die after about a year so so buy a few and back up your install every week or so so you don't loose any data with the sd card copier under accessories in raspberry pi os. I like the kingston canvas go plus. I'm pretty sure it's the fastest of the bunch. if you want multiple devices on the pcie you can find splitters if you want to run an npu(i like hailo ai chips)and an nvme and what ever else, You can daisy chain them together so if you wanted to do something like build a nas with nvme drives, you could, At least i think. I don't know how many of them you can stack until they stop working. you will probably need and external power supply if you are running more than like 2 or 3 devices. and I don't think booting to an nvme through a splitter is supported yet so get that kingston card or the samsung bar. It's the fastest usb stick for a good price. and it comes in 512gb which is a pretty good size. It will be a lot more reliable than an sd card as well. I don't know how the speed compares thought, probable faster. I've made a video camera with a pi5, a cheap tripod, a hq camera module, a cannon lense adapter, usb 3.0 hub, an nvme hat, a 7 1/4" 1200 x 600 display, and an nvme drive drive in an orico enclosure which I highly recommend because it actually has a heatsink and a thermal pad unlike every other one except for sabrent i think, but I didn't get that one because they lock you into using sabrent drives to write images if i'm remembering correctly. And just for fun i wrote this on my pi. That's it. I hope this has been helpful for you. Also, I Know my stuff. I have an AA in computer science. Have a good one guy and gals. :) God Bless You.

Great for Home Assistant
I have been running a Home Assistant smart home on this pie for nearly the last year continuously with only one manual reboot that was likely due to a software upgrade home assistant was wanting to do. Be sure to use a good quality M.2 ssd as storage and it will stay stable for the long haul. I use alexa devices in each room and have voice control of every ceiling fan and light in my home with voice commands and motion sensors. The uses in smart homes is endless, limited only by your imagination.

Work for me
I did plan to get a 4Gb or higher model, maybe next time, but this has worked well. Also came with a chart map for the GPIO pins.

I don't recall any power supply with it. But it works well..
Still trying to customize the os, but it's running very well. Definitely get an A2 sdcard. ORDER your connecting cables mini hmdi to standard. Double check your power requirements.. but an adapter if one is not included.

Excellent Products
What more can I about RPi 5. Frankly it is overkill for my projects, it is nice when boots so quickly. The heat sinks and especially, the power supply is outstanding.

A solid kit to start your Raspberry Pi journey. I bought it mostly to set up my brand-new Home Assistant ecosystem. Everything is working fine, I'm running it 24/7 and it's been a month. Inside this kit, you get a standard RPi 5 (8 GB RAM) with a 45-watt USB-C power supply which is more than enough. I searched to find the best price/value from different suppliers and CanaKit was the better one. I recommend getting this power supply and not going with cheap power supplies as the adapter plays a main role in keeping your RPi safe and functional especially if you have plans to use SSD storage alongside as it draws more power. I also recommend getting a case for your Pi especially if you're running it 24/7 to make sure the cooling and dust can not damage your hardware. I went with the Pironman 5 (a bit expensive) but it has a nice view. Overall, happy with my purchase, and the packaging I received. I only wish there was the 16 GB version available as well (Rpi 5 + Power Supply).

Have a 3D printer so just needed the barebones with a legit power supply for this project. Canakit always delivers the highest quality components to go with the RPi when you buy their kits. The power supply (and other goodies with the other kits) usually far exceed what is normally offered with the Raspberry Pi kits from other vendors. Just buy their stuff once and you will see what I mean.

As always, Canakit delver high quality.

I want to use RPI5 to test IEEE1588/PTP since RPI5 ethernet support hardware timestamping, I am impress with the result, time precision is in nanosec with master clock. I find another use case, running ollama locally, with 8G RAM you can run many models, the response time to the question is quite good versus running ollama on laptop Intel, I am amaze how good AI can be executed locally with good result. Some models require more RAM, so I am looking for a bigger RAM RPI. Performance wise, it is quantum leap from previous RPI4.
