Little Handful of Scraps Quilt Book Projects Mini Quilt Patterns

Okay but a bit too simplistic
For me, this is an okay book but isn't anything special. I've enjoyed several of Edyta's other books more. This book starts out (much like Handfuls of Scraps, 2014 did) with vintage quilts (through page 34) with a few of Edyta's quilts thrown in.I've gone through the quilt designs page-by-page several times but have only found a couple that spark my interest but none of them make me want to jump right up and start stitching...that is disappointing. It feels like most of the small quilts (the biggest being 28 1/2 inches square) are lackluster. I can't completely identify why. Let me give you a couple examples. The quilt Michael is 13x17 inches and consists of Ohio stars set 2 by 3 with sashing and cornerstones. The only border is on the sides and they consist of half square triangles. I LOVE Ohio star blocks but this little quilt just looks boring to me. If you want to see it and some of the other quilts (Paula, Lidia and Daisy) that are in the book, the patterns are sold individually on the Laundry Basket Quilts website. There are two quilts in the book that I like. The first is Lucas (12 1/2 inches square) which is log cabin blocks arranged into a star with three borders. The other is Alysha (19 1/2 x 24 1/2 inches) which is a miniature of Adyta's full-sized Free Spirit quilt pattern consisting of large half square triangles bordered with small ones.Nine of the 32 quilts include a least a little bit of applique (Julie includes broderie applique). One of the applique quilts consists of butterflies. Four quilts include baskets.Bottom line: If I had it to do over, would I buy the book again? No, but if the book was $15 instead of $27...maybe but that is simply because I'm a Edyta Sitar fan.
