Successfully responding to modern cybersecurity threats requires a well-planned, organized, and tested incident management program based on a formal incident management framework. It must be comprised of technical and non-technical requirements and planning for all aspects of people, processes, and technology. This includes evolving considerations specific to the customer environment, threat landscape, regulatory requirements, and security controls. Only through a highly adaptive, iterative, informed, and continuously evolving full-lifecycle incident management program can responders and the companies they support be successful in combatting cyber threats. This book is the second edition of the first volume in a series that explains in detail the full-lifecycle cybersecurity incident management program. It has been developed over two decades of security and response experience and honed across thousands of customer environments, incidents, and program development projects. It accommodates all regulatory and security requirements and is effective against all known and newly evolving cyber threats. This book will guide the reader on preparing for incident response/management and conducting each phase throughout the entire lifecycle. Review: Extensive body of knowledge delivered in a very effective way - I bought both volumes, and I must say that they are a treasure trove of cybersecurity incident management knowledge. Well put together, logical and sequential information, topped off with the author's 20+ years of experience, proves to be an effective delivery method of this evolving topic. Overall, I am very satisfied with this purchase, and these books are a prominent addition to my growing cybersecurity library. Review: Detailed discussion of cybersecurity - I own a small business and have had some cyber incursions. Although I am not in a position to address specific cyber threats, this book has given me a good view of the problem. Recommended.

Written by a practicing and experienced expert in this field!
I had the pleasure of working with Colby Clark 15 years ago at Guidance Software. At that time he was Mr. Cyber Security and was always pushing to expand his knowledge in information assurance, cyber investigations, and cyber security in general. I remember him hacking phones with a tennis ball can to listen to people's phone calls as they wandered about the office. Flash forward all that time and he never once stopped improving his stance on "always be learning" ... "all the things". This book summarizes all of those years of experience and knowledge, categorizes it, and presents it in such a way that a new to the field cyber technician can quickly catch up. At the same time, this book will be invaluable for a seasoned veteran in this space. A must-read!

About the author
I have known the author for well over 10 years and worked with him in a variety of roles ranging from digital forensics, eDiscovery, and front line Incident response. The experience Colby references comes from many years of working with top level government agencies and fortune 500 companies across all industry sectors. He is truly a never-ending student of information security receiving countless top level certifications. His combination of education, certification, compliance, and real world experience give him the foundation to present content that is heavy on practical application as opposed to classroom concepts and theory. If you are looking for content created by someone who has "walked the walk" and "been there done that" then this book is for you.

Great IR/IM Reference!!!
The book is a great reference to incident response and incident management. It even covers general topics of interest to Incident response consultants like the rigors of travel and preparing personally for those activities. Colby has shared his wealth of experience on these topics. Sample plans, playbooks, and workflows that he has provided are a great point to start from for building your own!
