Cheap, cheerful and does the job

I used these to replace a set of existing micro filters that appeared to be failing and much rather prefer these ones which plug into the telephone socket without any silly cable trailing out.A telephone engineer mentioned that micro filters are subject to quite high voltages of nearly 50V so can be prone to failure and whilst you can buy more expensive models, it's better to try a cheap alternative to eliminate a filter being the problem. Since I have used these, my ADSL broadband has become more stable with no dropouts after using the telephone. One other thing to note, you don't actually need to use a micro filter on a socket that has an ADSL modem router connected *only*. The filter is actually for the telephone only so if you have both a telephone and ADSL modem router connected to one socket, a micro filter is required. If you only have an ADSL modem router connected to a socket, and your telephone is connected to another socket, you don't need a micro filter on the ADSL socket but you will need one on the telephone.

Looks like good value

Apparent problems with both phone and internet led me to a filter of mine and after looking at the available options I decided on this partly because it went into the socket rather than dangling from a cable which I thought could cause problems. The one supplied doesn't look quite like this but it seems to work ok. Delivery wasn't that speedy but the value looks good and most importantly it works! If any issues occur (I have only just plugged them in) I'll amend the review.

Great little Gizmo is final link in solving your own telephone problems especially for Call Monitor landline phones....read on!

Wired-up BT 10m Telephone Extension Cable Suitable for BT and Other NetworksBT Decor 2600 Advanced Call Blocker Corded Telephone - WhiteBT Telephone 3 Way Triple Adaptor Splitter FAX / ModemAlmost 2 weeks ago, I spotted a Connex (or is it Comex) van with the logo of BT on the back, at the top of my street, with the guy "fixing" something in the big junction box there. After he'd gone, I tried my landline...and it was as dead as a dodo....though the Broadband (BT infinity) was working fine - this by the way has a separate box in a different room to the phone "junction" box which is in the hall. Had a similar experience about 4 years ago - reported it to BT, got a little lecture about "if it's determined it's your fault then we will charge you but if it's ours we will repair it free of charge" - took them a week to email me to say "it's ok now" - no apology, no explanation, IMPORTANTLY no bill, so obviously it was deemed "not my fault"; and I had the added "treat" of having to buy a mobile phone (which I'd previously avoided due to the brain tumour scares in the press down the years) to cover the wait as my late father was in hospital at the time - all very upsetting. This time, I thought I'd try and diagnose and fix it myself. Now the way it turned out it looks like I just needed a revised "array" of attached equipment including some new bits to make it work - not saying the Connex/Comex guy was to blame so much as whatever he did seemed to trigger the problem 'ere indoors! Because lets face it, before he arrived and "twiddled" with the street box, everything worked, after he went, it didn't - QED! So in the last week and a half, I've purchased (1) a new socket tripler to see if the old one was kaput - when nothing happened, I thought it must be the BT Call Monitor telephone; as it was only when that was plugged in that I had no dial tone on the telephone line - when it was unplugged, 2 earlier "normal" telephones worked fine on both the main connection and the upstairs extension. So (2) bought a new phone - no improvement. So then I thought it might be one of my extension cables, which are admittedly a few years old, so (3) I ordered a new BT approved extension cable which arrived today - I also (4) ordered this micro filter for ADSL - and you know what? When I plugged in the new phone, attached it to the new extension cable, attached that to the new socket tripler, attached those to this little electronic marvel; plugged it all in to the BT junction box in the hall; then rang myself from my mobile - the BT call monitor phone as well as the 2 extension phones (the 2 old ones mentioned previously) IT WORKED!! I'LL GO TO THE FOOT OF OUR STAIRS!!. So yes, it's cost me over £30 but that's a lot cheaper than waiting for an engineer to come and tut tut over everything with a bill to follow. Interestingly, the older of the 2 Call Monitor phones (which I only bought in June last year) didn't seem to like the connection on the new telephone extension and nearly got jammed in it, whereas the new phone was ok. I shall keep it as a spare - just in case! How many more things around the home and garden do we all have to become experts on because of this Corporate miasma which seems to consist of blaming the customer upfront and threatening them with charges "if it's their fault" ? Maybe it's time to become "besties" with the team on "Rip-off Britain"?!! Should we all apply for University Credits as professors of astrophysics due to our acquired knowledge of just about everything? And no, I never got a refund of the phone rental for the period it was out of commission 4 years ago either. Ain't life grand?

micro filter

bought these hoping that they will help to speed up my downloads and improved the quality of my phone line, but it has not help, the only good thing about these filters is the price they offer good value for the price, and is always good to have these around just in case things go wrong

they work well always advise replacing them if your a heavy user replace every 1-3 months

depending on how much traffic is going threw your internet i would recomend having these on hand as its the most likely culprit of a dodgy internet connection not the router or phoneline itself try this then the phoneline

Cheap and knock-proof

Purchased this in 2009 and after being knocked many times it still works! The main phone socket is in our hall, just where we leave our stroller. Because of this, it has been knocked many times. The design of it (with a small clip next to where it plugs into the wall) means that it 'breaks in two', but like Nokia phones of yesteryear, it simply clicks back into place.
