## Overview

Rit DyeMore Liquid Dye in Midnight Navy is a professional-grade, non-toxic liquid dye designed specifically for synthetic fabrics with 35% or more polyester, acrylic, acetate, or nylon. It requires stovetop dyeing in a stainless steel pot to maintain high temperatures for optimal color absorption. With over 1000 color recipes available, it enables precise, creative customization including tie-dye, ombré, and shibori techniques. Ideal for rejuvenating faded clothes, upcycling, and even dyeing unique items like 3D prints and faux fur.

## Description

Rit DyeMore Synthetic Fiber Dye now makes it possible to dye synthetic fabric and fabric blends, which include anything with 35% or more polyester, acrylic, acetate or nylon. The versatile, easy-to-use and non-toxic liquid dye is perfect for rejuvenating faded clothing and décor, upcycling, hiding laundry accidents and so much more. Looking to create something unique? Rit has been tie-dyeing clothing for decades. It’s also the perfect tool to create an ombré, dip dyed or shibori pattern. It can even dye 3D printed items, lacrosse sticks, wigs, faux fur and some plastics. Whether you are dyeing a garment in a color you love (but wasn’t available to buy), creating a costume or decorating for a party, all you need is a stainless-steel pot to get started. With 250+ color recipes available on the Rit's website, it is almost certain you’ll find the right color for your needs. Please note: Due to the complexity of dyeing synthetic fabrics, you must use this dye in a stainless-steel pot on your stove top to maintain a high-water temperature throughout the duration of dyeing. Cannot be used in a washing machine.

Review: Did great! Might do even better if you follow the directions! - Used with Rit Colorstay on a 56% cotton 44% polyester fleece heathered grey sweatshirt for a Warden costume. You can see the base color which I left clear on the upper arms. It took really well! Especially considering I did it in a last-minute panic and hadn't realized it would need boiling in a pot that isn't going to be used for food afterward. I put it in a glass pickle jar nestled in my spaghetti pot with a bunch of rags to cushion it and simmered for about half the time it wanted before the jar cracked, very luckily not catastrophically. So the rest of the dye time it hung out in a compromised glass jar below temp and I would absolutely suggest to NOT do that and go to the thrift store for a sacrificial pot instead. :) Regardless of my deviation from the rules, it left a nice muted deep blue-grey. No transfer to other laundry and the color has only mellowed slightly after many washes since.
Review: Flawless as usual! - I've had to dye a few synthetic fabrics and this does the trick-- keep in mind that this is stovetop dying and you have to be careful to follow the instructions to the letter. I set up a large stock pot (I bought it ONLY for dying fabric) and I use a veggie steamer basket I bought for dying to help prevent the fabric from touching the bottom where the stove heats the pot. I usually double dye quantity and it works like a charm. Easy to use, good value, and the colors are great-- this helps me color correct 'navy blue' items that are a bit on the green/aqua side and get them closer to a true navy blue. Love it! Get HEAVY DUTY DISH GLOVES! You won't regret it for stain prevention and heat resistance.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does this wash out easily?**
A: No, it can fade a bit after a few washes like normal clothes but once it's dyed you'll need to purchase Rit color remover to get it out. If you want the color to stay longer you can use Rit ColorStay

**Q: Can I use this to dye flowers?**
A: You can dye synthetic silk flowers.

**Q: I have an ice blue, 95% polyester, 5% spandex dress that I want to dye a grey/blue color. How would I get to this color?**
A: I have never dyed fabric with this dye. However if you go to their website it will show you different shades and mixes to achieve the color you are after. I would assume you would go with a shade lighter as you are starting with blue fabric and not white. I really hope this helps.

**Q: can you combine two colors, like the blue and purple?**
A: Yes you can but be prepared for color bleeding into each other

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Different fabric will take the dye Different
*by 3***S on September 16, 2023*

It turned out good. One bottle did a vintage wedding dress that weighed 2 lbs. However, notice that the 3 different fabrics in the dress all came out differently! The underskirt came out dark purple, the polyester part turned light blue and the lace was the only part that actually turned navy blue. I let the dress soak for 60 min. I did use the stove top method in an I gal stock pot.
