Hewlett Packard Enterprise ProLiant MicroServer Gen10 Plus v2 G6405 2-core 1P 16GB-U VROC 4LFF-NHP 180W External PS Server, Black

Incredibly fast, has a ton of memory and functions perfectly, couldn’t ask for more.

I really like the look and feel of the HPE Proliant MicroServer. It has the normal 'server' style BIOS and features. Though this model doesn't include ilo interface, you have to pay extra for that. It also doesn't include any storage devices, or an adapter for 2.5" to 3.5". I think they could have designed the 4 drive bays to at least have 2 of the 4 be cross compatible with 2.5 or 3.5" hard drives, or include a tiny sled adapter with the system. An nvme slot would have been nice to include, even a smaller 2230 m.2 would have been nice. 4 1gig ethernet ports were nice, but even with these, a 2.5/5 or even 10g port would have been better. At least maybe do 2 10gig and 2 1gig ports like a lot of their competitor servers do. These types of things would be okay if the price was lower, but at $700 for a base model, I'd expect one more of these features to be included. Not documented anywhere that I could except youtube or forums, is that this system DOES support non-ecc ram. It says in the documentation that it only supports ecc ram and Pentium Gold or Xeon processors. I saw someone test 2x4, 2x8, 2x16, and 2x32 gigabyte ddr4 sticks with and without ecc and all worked fine. I took this a bit further and tested the 16gb stick of ecc ram it came with and an 8gb non-ecc stick of random ram laying around the house and it works great with 24gb of mixed ram. Both Linux and Windows ran fine on it, benchmarks were good, doing as good or better than 2x8gb sticks. So it gets the full dual channel benefits, at least to the first 16 of the 24 gigabytes. I tried an nvme in the pcie slot and it was fine, ssd on one of the sata ports worked fine. I was going to try raiding 2 ssds but haven't had time to try that yet. I did install an i3-10305 cpu in it and it works no problem also. Recognized perfectly by the bios. I've seen folks online complaining about the fan noise, but for me, it's been as quiet as can be. I decided to replace my older xeon 2640v4 system with this, and it's a lot smaller, quieter, and looks better. Not sure I can really recommend it for the price, unless you're looking for some of the more advanced server features or need ECC ram. But it is a nice little microserver.

Good quality! Really nice server which have 4HDD slot and expandable memory. The fan noise is controllable and not generating that much heat in my network closet.
