A sturdy, workable HD enclosure
This is a good enclosure that comes with a short USB-A to USB-C cord and a USB-A to C adapter. There are also 4 thicknesses of black closed-cell foam pads that will act as a bumper, so whatever thickness of your HD will be somewhat protected from bouncing around in your bag. A couple of things--when inserting the HD it might be a tight fit due to a rubber bumper inside the larger, lower portion of the enclosure. This bumper presses the HD tight against the drive connector but it might be too tight for you to get the drive in without possible damaging the connector. Remove it, insert and make sure your HD is seated, then place the foam rubber bumper back where it came from. This insures your HD will not loosen from its connecting point. Also, what looks like tiny vent holes in photos of this HD enclose are NOT vent holes but indentations that LOOK LIKE vent holes. The real vent holes are along both sides of the bottom portion of the case. The tiny holes are just decoration.

Perfect
Arrived today...I bought it to replace an enclosure on an external HDD I had that stopped working, turned out it was the control unit inside the enclosure, the drive itself was fine but was thicker than most at 15cm and wouldn't fit in any enclosure I could find where I live.Fits perfectly in this one, installation was super easy, and above all, it works, saved me a ton of money if I had to buy a whole new drive just for the enclosure, highly recommended.

Excellent
It’s a plastic enclosure and sells for a fraction of what branded metal enclosures sell for. So it’s not going to be built like a tank. If you plan on installing a 15mm hdd and dropping it, probably wise to look elsewhere. I use this for a spare enclosure for Apple computers and iPads. In it is a 5tb 15mm high hdd. Nice molding work, way better than any plastic enclosure I’ve seen in 40 years of buying drives. Assembles well. Formatted (apfs) fine. It runs fine, no weird behavior, no unexpected ejections, appears to be good speed, connectors are solid and smooth in operation, works fine off bus power on usb A or C with a hog for a drive. Cooling could be better thought out. The designer apparently skipped his science of convection classes. If I was using an ssd for long write runs I’d buy metal. For an hdd spare the cooling seems ok. Knocked a star for this.

Works!
I had a 5TB Seagate One Touch drive that just suddenly died. After removing the drive from the case and testing it (it worked!), I got one of these cases to re-house the drive. Now it's a functional external drive again, and the port is even USB-C (the original Seagate case had USB micro-B).

Used on a 15mm 4tb seagate hard drive.
The 15 mm hard drive fit perfectly. The included USB "C" connector provided enough power to operate the Drive as well as transferring data . I am replacing my old enclosure which required two USB connectors, one USB 2 to spin up the drive and one USB 3 to transfer data.

USB cables arent created equal...be mindful of what you use
I was just about ready to give this enclosure a 1 star garbage rating and throw it in the trash. Because at first, I was only getting USB 2.0 speeds when writing/reading files with this enclosure, with speeds being no higher than 40MB per second. I also tested with CrystalDiskMark, which gave similar results. But then, I decided to test with other cables of varying brands/lengths/materials. With some of these, my speeds were similar to my results when I was using the drive in the stock Seagate enclosure (it's an external 5TB drive, with a height of 15mm). Some cables were slow, others were fast, giving the results I wanted to see.The bottom line of this review is: If you find that you're getting slow speeds with this enclosure, try a different cable. Some will be USB 2.0, others will be USB 3.x or higher. And some cables are data transfer only, whereas others are for charging only. And then there are other cables that are good for both. Also, shorter is better when it comes to cables, because the data has to travel a shorter distance, which should mean faster speeds.Do your research before buying a cable to use with an enclosure. I do highly recommend this one, now that I realize my initial impression of it was incorrect. 5 stars overall. Also, this enclosure is sturdy, made of a metallic-like material. My only gripe is that ElecGear didn't include spacers for the end of the drive (the end that's opposite of where you plug the cable). With some drives, there may be a small gap there, which could cause the drive to unseat itself from the internal port it connects to. They did include spacers for the top of the drive though, just in case your drive is less than 15mm in height. To make up for the lack of end spacers, there's a simple and super cheap fix. If you have any cardboard boxes laying around, trim them down into small squares with a knife/scissors and put a few in the end gap. I've done this, my drive hasn't came loose yet. It appears to be held in very firmly.

Terrible minty/tangy smell coming from plastic
The plastic smell is terrible coming from the enclosure and especially the cable... it works as advertised but the smell is making me feel sick and nauseous. Giving it 24hrs air out in garage if no luck sending back.

Doesn't work with 5vdc 15mm Seagate drive
Nice enclosure for the money. I like the extra eva foam inserts for the drive sizes. Lost most of the stars because I bought it for a drive that should work with it and simply doesn't. Just a standard Seagate Sata 2.5in 15mm 5vdc drive like you would see in a Dell/HP Server.
