EDIT: 13/02/2018 ~ Downgraded! Just when the spice rack is nicely uniform, a new design of labelling comes along, not to mention a cheaper style of top that shaves the top of the BAY LEAVES when you unscrew it, because that is the only way to get a whole leaf out, in my experience! The tear down seal is also now a nightmare to get off. The edges of the new, one size fits all (presumably) lid are quite sharp when they are flipped up. One side flips up to reveal a sprinkler, the other is designed to be used with a spoon. Neither is large enough for the extraction of a whole leaf & the flipping up ruins the 'BAY LEAVES' sticker on the top. Going backwards in design, here, IMO...for something that currently costs less than a pound. And I am off to that other supermarket for my herbs/spices in the future! Rant over. ooOoo OLDER DESIGN ♦ MORRISON’S ♦ WHOLE BAY LEAVES ♦ 3g I love bay leaves in a base sauce of red wine, tomatoes, garlic & onions and in béchamel...not forgetting...homemade ‘Mulled Wine’, fast coming into mind (at the time of writing), not to mention having a go at my very first ‘Mulled Cider’, for Hallowe’en, this year! Generally, I have been disappointed with the quality of dry bay leaves for a long time now. Some supermarkets have reduced the number of brands of herbs & spices they stock generally, locking the shopper into one brand or their own, in my experience, with none of them being particularly consistent, of late. I am pleased to say that the Morrison’s brand is as good if not better than those with a higher price tag. There are certainly far more full leaves, but it is still a challenge to get a larger one out through the neck in one piece! With that unique aroma, adequate flavour flows through to enhance my dishes before fishing it/them out, before serving. Sealed on arrival, the little glass bottle was well protected in a bubble-wrap jacket. The bottle has a base diameter of roughly 4 cm and stands around 9.75 cm tall. It has a rigid BLACK plastic-type lid, which is around 2 cm deep and flips up to reveal the bay leaves, clipping back into place with a reassuring click. The front label is freshly coloured with ‘Whole Bay Leaves' scripted and a separate capitalised, bold ‘B’, along with the Morrison’s ‘M’. The sturdy plastic cap has a label with the main letter ‘B’, in GREEN, and ‘WHOLE BAY LEAVES' capitalised in WHITE twice. The back labels have the best before date (June 2019 on mine), storage guidelines and serving & recipe suggestions, along with container recycling guidelines. The first images attached below refer to the original product; the latter show the 'improved' version (but Amazon software has a tendency to shuffle images!).
