Zoo Med Reptile Shelter 3 in 1 Cave, Large

My ball python is about 4 feet long. I don’t use it to bread. Just as a hide. He loves it and has no complaints. I put paper towels at the bottom so he wouldn’t be touching cold metal. I used it for transport as a hide. I assume it being metal you can’t really put a heating pad near it without burning the snake. Probably good for a humid hide though.

I’m sure this would’ve been a great product for my ball python but it arrived completely broken. There was a previous review similar to this that all should take into consideration. I had assumed it was an outlier. This product is ceramic and in two sections, each within their own box, within a ZooMed box, within an Amazon box. There is no bubble wrap, or wadded paper, or anything else to dampen the blows of shipping.Luckily Amazon is providing a refund without requesting a return, but absolutely unacceptable to ship a ceramic piece without the appropriate packaging.

We were gifted the same product but a smaller size for our ball python. He is about 1.5 now and outgrew his previous on. He would push the lid off the old one trying to fit. He loves his new shelter and fits in with room to spare!

After two times of the product being shipped to me with the top half completely shattered (no bubble wrap or Styrofoam around product), it finally came in one piece and is HUGE.My adult leopard gecko is larger than most (his daddy is a giant), and the inside is still longer than his body. Of course a leopard can fit in the medium size (my mom's geckos all have the medium), but isn't it better to have a cave where they can lay inside fully stretched out rather than all balled up? With this hide, my gecko has the option of curved along a side or straight along the back, and he always chooses straight.I love it. My gecko loves it. It is gorgeous.The tank in each of these photos is a 40 gallon breeder. I recommend this hide only in tanks where the base is 18 inches deep or more (40, 50, 75, 90, 120, 125 gallon, etc.). It would look stupid in a 20 gallon (if it would even fit, I'm not sure), and could never fit in a 10.

The media could not be loaded.  It was certainly worth the half hour it took to unpack the item. They had shipped it in 4 boxes packed inside of eachother, each wrapped in tape and sticky bubble wrap.The cave itself is a great addition for a ball python. I wouldn't suggest other herps as the top can readily be knocked and moved with enough force and could potentially lead to an injury if not secured prior to placement.

I loved the size of this cave. I got the large and was excited to get it as I have a BP who loves hiding. The issue I had with the item is that it arrived broken. It is made of ceramic and comes in two parts. Each part is in its own box within the main box. There’s no additional packaging or bubble wrap, so the item is not protected if there’s any pressure on the main box which is unfortunate because the item isn’t cheap. I filed for a damage return and am getting a full refund and don’t have to ship the item back, which is good because it’s sharp and can cut someone. But, it’s sad it will end up in the trash, as this is avoidable with just a little extra packaging. I’ll be looking at some other options, as the ceramic structure of it makes me nervous since it can cut my snake if damaged at any point and me not see it. Would have been nice if this had been made of a firm plastic or even resin. One good thing about it being ceramic however is it would be good for transferring heat if placed on a heating mat. Who knows, I may give it another go. All in all, the product isn’t bad, just the packaging, hence the 3 stars.

I have a pb so that’s why I got this hide and he absolutely loves it, I put him directly next to the new hide after it was all set up and he went straight into it and hasn’t come out. He loves it!

THIS IS MORE OF A SELLER REVIEW FOR AMAZON; Zoo Med Reptile Shelter 3 in 1 Cave, Large : has two quarter sized chips on the outside of the cave, one on the top piece and one on the bottom piece, and two more dime sized chips on the top piece, also there is a huge chip the size of a half dollar which was filled in and painted with green marker? looks horrible not even the same color green. looked like it was open before, the styrofoam was falling apart as if it was opened before and repackaged. i bought this item thinking it was new, now i regret even buying it, and returning it would be a waste of my time and money , AGAIN (already looks like someone returned it, and they sold it again as new. scammers. )

We were very pleased with this piece not only that it came packaged very well, but the piece is actually a little bigger than we had anticipated. I’m very pleased and will certainly buy from the seller again.

Alle meine 3 Königspythons haben diese Höhle & sind schon nach kurzer Zeit total bgegeistert. 2/3 liegen 90% nur in der Höhle :) Platz ist auch super.Moos hält sich dort ca 1-1,5 Wochen feuchtMeine größtes Männchen wiegt 1300g und hat noch Platz. Bei nem Zuchtweibchen aber denke ich zu klein.
