Monstrum Ghost G3 5X Magnifier with Flip-to-Side Mount

Excellent magnifier for the money. Clear glass, great eye relief (eye box is a bit tight due to it being a 5X) Odd that the page claims its not compatible with holographic sights, works fantastic with my UH-1. It's base mount is dead center with the holo. Wish it had a QD mount but I'm using a separate one for it at the moment. Even being centered higher than the main sight it still works just as well.

I'm comparing this to the Sig Juliet micro line of magnifiers (3x and 5x), which are good optics, but their mount have been nothing but trouble. They have this annoying push button to allow the magnifier to be flipped, but screw keeps coming off, too much wobble or sloppiness in the mount, etc. This Monstrum one has a flip mount that is friction-based, with no stupid button. On top of that, the optics seem clear and like others have said, it's built like a tank and therefore heavier. Great value for the price. Update: After using this for awhile, I came to realize it has very unforgiving eye box from side to side it seems. And the image doesn't seem like the clearest. I switched to another magnifier. Right now for about the same or less money you can get a Primary Arms one (see Optics planet) but there you do have to buy a separate flip mount for about 20 bucks more.

I almost did not buy this magnifier because of the reviews. I don’t know why people are giving this a bad review to me. This is a fantastic magnifier. The eye relief is incredible. I have another five x magnifier and I have to get close to 2 inches to it. It’s OK, but I would’ve bought this one before if I had known how great this is do not read the bad reviews. These people do not know what they’re talking about. It is a little clunky. It feels very heavy like I could throw it down the street and it would be fine.

Ok on my bullpup rifle behind a holosun, this thing kicks butt. Great clarity On my psa jakl, the eye relief makes it unusable.

To big and ugly.... horrible eye box and got to be half an inch away. got an eotech clone for 109 bones works great

Nice robust build. A little heavy maybe but nothing I wasn't prepared to deal with at the price point. Optical clarity 6.5/10. Flip mount and mounting 9/10. Eye relief and box 6/10. Huge parallax. With my red dot solidly a one foot shift to either side at 100 yards. For obvious reasons this has to go back.

For the price, this is a good value in my opinion. But a couple of things hold it back. Pros: - large objective lens - clear glass - good magnification - surprisingly good eye relief; I also tried the Sightmark T5, but it had awful eye relief (seriously was about 1” from the objective lens) - seemingly built like a tank with firm mount detents - low price Cons: - odd proprietary virtual center height—1.55”, which is in between absolute cowitness and lower 1/3rd—this is my biggest gripe. Granted, you can adjust the visual center, but this seems to further limit the eye box - not the widest eye box - no QD mount. Maybe this should be expected at the low price, but still. If you were planning on running a backup rear flip up iron sight underneath the magnifier, you’d need tools to remove the magnifier first - pretty large and heavy—despite its name, “micro” doesn’t really apply here 😂 Overall/other thoughts: Monstrum makes a red dot that matches the same 1.55” proprietary height. If someone wanted to save money and get the combination of both, and they could live with the drawbacks above, I’d have no problem recommending this. As is, I ended up spending more money to get the Holosun HM3X. Different magnification level (3x vs 5x), but it makes up for a lot of this magnifier’s short comings. That is, it has a QD mount, has industry standard heights (and includes the riser plate), it’s lighter, etc. Either way, YMMV!

It’s a little heavy but the eye relief is way better than the sight mark 3x magnifier I have. The mount is solid and I like it better that my vortex one.
