Protection against rapid cooling (windproof thanks to Gore Windstopper membrane) in combination with high breathability are the most important features that are needed. Even in light showers, high-quality softshell fabrics can easily keep the wearer dry, but are not a complete replacement for rain jackets. In combination with base layers, the softshell multifunctional jacket is very versatile and allows activities in the range of +5 °C thanks to the increased freedom of movement.
