Great value with stellar results
I am a voice actor and vocalist, working out of a very small closet booth. One of the hardest things to do in such a tiny booth (especially working on video games and animation) is be able to balance speaking and yelling parts in audio due to the massive amounts of reflection happening in a small enclosed space. There's just way too much sound bouncing around, and you need to deaden things as much as possible on all areas of the room without boxing yourself in even more.Though I already had quite a bit of sound treatment via blanketing and thick Rockwool panels on the ceiling and behind the microphone, there was still a significant amount of reflection happening inside my booth. It made it very difficult to project my voice without clipping.Determined to finally resolve the issue, I purchased a 48 pack of these to cure the problem once and for all. By doubling up these panels with hot glue, it makes a dramatic difference in absorbing the free reflections in my tiny booth and have helped me attain pro-level audio. These panels are very dense, and really do the trick in dampening. The difference is literally night and day. If needed, I would from F-Stop again!

Decent sound absorption, if stacked.
If you were to put up one layer of these, I think you would be disappointed. They are fairly thin, and while one panel does have an effect it's not a large effect. Stacking two or three panels thick seems to be very effective, though you are of course buying more material to do that. The panels do not have any kind of adhesive included. That's fine though, one of the most common complaints I see about panels like this is that adhesives don't stick to them, and unless you're in the minority who own the space you live in, adhesive on the wall is problematic anyway. This material being a dense fiber, one good way to mount would be to sew the panels to a piece of backing fabric then mount that fabric. You could also use finishing nails through to a backing board and hang that board, or just pin directly to the wall with those long cubicle pins used on cubicle walls.

They worked very well.
I don’t understand sound theory or whatever, so I don’t know if they work in theory. But they worked really *really* well for my project. We have a little CNC machine on our workbench. (It’s a little machine that cuts stuff out using a computer program and it’s basically like having a power tool running non-stop while it does its thing. We wanted the workshop quieter so we could make other noises with other power tools. So I built a box for it. Maybe 18” x 18“ x 24” or like 500 x 300 mm. I lined the box with these things and it’s really striking how quiet it is. I keep thinking somebody off in the distance must be vacuuming or something, then I realize it’s the machine right next to me, really quiet. For the box, wood glue actually held them fine. The colors weren’t consistent, but I wasn’t wallpapering my grandma’s dining room, you know? I think that’s why people use a checkerboard pattern.Oh, and somebody was right that they aren’t exactly 12” or even exactly the same height as width. Again, not a fashion accessory.Oh, as a weird aside, I have one glued to a piece of plywood for reasons, and it turns outthat a little board that’s half plywood half felt is an oddly satisfying thing. Shrug. Maybe I’ll find a way to make something out of the glued panels.Anyway, they were marvelous and I’m glad I have some more to play with.

Cool but not going soundproof anything significant
Firstly, I like these tiles. They look cool with the beveled edge and they were super easy to work with. They are light but stiff and cut easily with a utility knife. That being said, they really don't do much for sound suppression. They reduce echo a little but if you are looking for a real sound deadening solution, these aren't nearly enough. I installed them in my laundry room on top of 4 other layers of sound insulation as a finishing touch to cover up my work and get at least some extra protection at the same time.Again, they are super cool but definitely manage your expectations around what level of sound dampening they will provide. If you need to reduce a lot of noise you'll need to pair these with a more hardcore material.

Night & Day Difference!
My landlady would complain to me when I'm on playstion at night that it's too loud and she can't sleep. Ok, no problem, I bought a headset, which is amazing btw. Still not good enough as she complained that she hears me talking all night long. Whew, now what?? My brother on the other end suggested a gaming carpet. I'm already on a carpet, but looking further here on amazon found these soundproofing tiles. I sit next to a baseboard radiator enclosed in a large metal shell thats approx 4ft wide and 3ft tall, built in to the wall. These tiles are also fire retardant. I took the front cover off the radiator and lined the back of the metal radiator above and below the fins as well as the floor and around the radiator. I used 3M spray adhesive, which worked great. When I saw her this morning and she said she heard nothing, I was stunned as I thought I was a little loud, especially when I sang the fight song. My thinking was the metal box was carrying my voice below to her as there is no insulation near the radiator and I'm sure her radiator is connected directly below mine. These tiles are a life saver as she can now blissfully sleep and I don't have to hear the complaints. Saved a lot of stress for both of us. Thank you, this works great and I highly recommened this product for its intended purpose. Also, the room seems warmer, as I guess the heat is no longer escaping through the bare metal walls and being redirected to the room.

Just as hard as drywall, and just as sound absorbant.
If you love the reverb that only gothic cathedrals can provide, you will love this product: It has zero sound absorption. If you need someone to talk to and are not picky, this panel will provide you with long lasting echos to talk to.If you are hard of hearing, you will love how much easier this "foam" panel amplifies sounds. I forgot I was standing next to one of theses when I sneezed, and with my now ruptured eardrums, I will never need to look any further for sound insulation. I will, however, need to find a good sign language tutor.

Easy to install, nice to work with
Works nice for soundproofing noise from street, but works extra nice as it keeps walls, doors and floors warmer 🙂 ordering more

DENSE FLAT ACOUSTIC PANELS
So this wall that has the flat panels is hollow.. and on the other side of the wall behind my computer is my neighbor .. Mr Waaaaaaaa Waaaaaaaaaaa ... always crying about something .. he has the same wall on his side as well.. the short wall is a partition between the living room and kitchen.. so if I sit at my computer and I chat online and I chat on the phone.. I have a very deep manly voice.. " THIS IS CNN " ........ " LUKE .. I AM YOUR FADDA "... bhahaha.. so it carries.. So i first put those foam panels like the ones you can see on the other wall .. but nope.. so i went looking for something different and I came across these flat acoustic panels and I proceeded to ordered 2 sets of 12 panels and attached them to the wall.. I didn't want to use nails so I used the same double sided tape I used for the foam panels.. nope.. did not want to stick to the material of these flat panels.. being a fiber material .. so I had to cut pieces of the tape and then staple the tape to the back of the panels and it worked.. i also wanted a material that I could double up as well... so I ordered another 24 of them.. but I knew I didnt want to use the tape and staple method on these.. they would not lay flat against the 1st layer due to the thickness of the tape .. so I ordered some black nails from Amazon and I tacked the 2nd layer to the 1st layer... the first layer I worked inward and the 2nd layer i worked outward from the corner.... so the vertical seams would not be lined up... but i did line up the seams horizontally since i wanted to give them a layered look.. something different that just a flat surface ... the panels are layered in the corner coming outward 2 panels width.. so the sound dampening is more in the corner where it should be.. so now I dont hear Mr Waaaaaaaaa Waaaaaaaaa .. waaaaaaaaaaaaing anymore .. so i am thinking.. BY GEORGE.. it works.. looks good and it works.. so I am happy with my choice of buying this product.. one thing I did find though .. is that when I was using the 5 left over panels to put on the bottom row below the top rows of foam panels on the wall behind my sofa.. I found that the tape that came with the foam panels actually worked on the flat panels as well... bonus.. so I was able to stick the tape to the back of the flat panels and then stick them to the wall.. no staples this time.. so there is tape out there that works to stick these panels to the wall.. sad you would have to buy the foam panels to get the 2 sided tape that comes with it though... if i find the 2 sided tape sold separately .. i will update this.... so thanks for reading..
