Great budget repeater. Simple setup
Great low budget option for GMRS. It’s not limited to frequency or mode since it just uses the audio and to and from the speaker section. As far as plug and play functions go. There’s no setup besides powering the unit on and connecting the radio. You could make a portable rig with this by installing it in a waterproof box and running the antenna through a waterproofed plug.

At first it was difficult to make it work and I am not sure what i did but it now functions as it should. , after trying endlessly .

Works well as a simplex repeater
I only tested this as a basic "parrot" repeater. I didn't try other functions. It was easy to set up & it worked well. It arrived mostly charged. Topping it off took maybe 10 minutes. Setting up for operation took less than a minute, without even looking at the book. Some guys on youtube had a hard time setting up the automated periodic transmit (station ID) function, but it was unclear to me if their issues were with the repeater or the tone generators they were using to set it up. For my simple use, it worked perfectly. Duplex repeaters often have issues with cross talk between the two radios. With this simple system, that's not an issue. ...and you only need one radio to make this system work. Total repeater cost with this unit & a cheap radio was less than $75. It makes a handy emergency repeater and it makes testing radio range/clarity easy for a single person to do by themselves.

It's very easy to set up for basic use
I had it running in about 40 seconds. It sounds fine. The audio play-back quality seems to sound same as the local Ham repeaters.Getting it going is quick. Connect power supply, and the interface cable. Turn on the SR-112 with a push button, turn on your radio. You will need to adjust the volume of the radio. Just use a second radio to transmit and listen to the play back volume level. I just compared loudness to other repeaters in my area.BUT there was this Loud Roger Beep tone at the end of every radio transmission. So, I checked the manual and found the touch-tones sequence to turn off the Roger Beep. However, none of my Baofeng handheld radios or my new Retevis RT-95 tones were decoded. The command sequence always failed after many attempts.I found a 30-year-old Alinco DJ-580 in my junk box. No battery! Found a 12v adaptor and I had that annoying Roger-Tone turned off on the second try!I really like this repeater and find it's very useful for the (915 MHz) antenna testing I've been doing for Meshtastic Node use.

Poor audio cable design
Kenwood connector is too tight to body of radios - won't make reliable connections to many of my handhelds.Volume randomly drops to barely audible. This has happened on numerous radios. I do nothing and it returns to normal level.

Question
It works. However, it will only record for about 35 seconds then cut off to relay a 35 second transmission. I think it's supposed to do 180 seconds? Can this be changed and how?

I fixed the touch tone command issue.
The simplex repeater function worked right out of the box. However, the touch tone commands were not working so I turned the volume way up out of my Baofeng and the touch tones then worked but the repeated audio coming back to me was distorted. So I used the command ##531 to set the record audio from the default level of "5" to "1" and now the repeated audio is perfect and it still decodes the touch tone commands.

Great in an emergency
I set this up in the mountains of Puerto Rico on top of a shelter (school) after Maria when the repeater was destroyed. The police/fire/EMS used this along with volunteers to communicate. I powered this off of solar for over a month. I chose simplex so that the person sending knew they were in range and it was working.
