Great Converter
I've been buying these $7 converters for RCA to HDMI. I have them all over the place and they work with minimal issues. They don't come with a switch for the aspect ratio, but they do usually come with a switch for 720/1080p. I had to buy an S-VIDEO converter recently and found the cheapest was around $15. It had the ratio switch and a switch from 480 to 720p, but the image wasn't the sharpest and it didn't work with my Commodore 64 (even though I had the 300 ohm resistor... for those in the know). I thought I was having trouble with the machine until I plugged it into a TV and found it worked just fine. I set out to find a new converter and found this one.I'm very happy with this box. Like another reviewer said, it's about as close as you're going to get to a RetroTink without shelling out the big bucks. The image is great, the ratio, quality, and source switching work perfectly and there is an on-screen display showing you what you just set it to. After going through those cheap converters I was also really pleased to find a custom power adapter and not a USB plug (they don't usually give you an adapter and you have to make sure the one you grab can support the power requirements of the converter - a hassle). If you aren't worried about S-Video, you aren't using your converter on a large TV, and you don't need to change the aspect ratio, I would say one of those cheap-o converters will do the trick for you. If you don't need S-Video, are on a small screen, but need ratio switching, there are other boxes slightly higher in cost than those that will work. If you need S-Video, this is hands-down better than any of those that are using USB power (I'm not saying the fact that they are using USB power has anything to do with the quality, but I've seen the options on Amazon and this is the easiest way to draw a line in the sand). You could probably get away with one of the cheaper options if, again, you're on a smaller screen and don't need ratio switching. Now, if you want to see your vintage device on a large screen, no matter what, this is one of the best of the sub-$40 options on the market and there is a marked difference in quality over the sub-$25 options. If you have a vintage computer, I'd say just skip the testing and get this one from the start. I wish I had.

Beware!
This up scaler is one to stay away from. In OBS the picture was terrible even with playing with settings. It also has a reddish purple line at the top half of the picture. I would not recommend this product at all. Since I am past the return date I will use this as a paper weight.

Power cord too short. Useless.
Connected my 20 year old Bose 3-2-1 system S-cable to the HDMI converter to my HDMI TV. Worked as advertised however, I highly recommend you purchase your own S-cable, HDMI cable and a AC/DC 5VDC (5mm x 2.1mm plug) in 4-6 ft. long or longer and don't depend on the cables that come with it, that and the fact the AC power cord is TOO SHORT! The other thing I found odd is that the cables plug in at opposite ends of the device. Bit of a hassle but I can live with it. Other than those gripes it works.

Great results
I needed an Analog-to-HDMI signal converter in order to be able to connect my old VCR to a modern receiver via HDMI cable. There are cheaper options available, but customers complain about various image and build quality issues. Upon careful research, I have decided upon this product due to its robust feature set, build quality, good reviews, and built-in settings memory preserving user settings when power is turned off. I am very pleased with the result. This converter is perfect for my application, and it provides a good image quality on a 77" TV set.

Good but not as expected(updated 2025)
So I originally wanted to use my 1080p TV and when using with my original Xbox with good Svideo cables and a good HDMI cable it was just really washed out on its 1080p and I wasn’t impressed. So I’ve been using a 720 P HD tv so I tryed the upscaleer with it I Considering the TV I had at 720P has a SV connector I didn’t expect much but wow it can upscale to 720p really well significantly better so I’m not using it with the TV. I thought I’d be using but it’s way better so if you have a TV that does 720 P hd I can definitely recommend but the 1080 upscale for this upscale leaves a lot to be desired update there’s a lot better out there but this is passable for movies and some light gameing but in all honesty I recommend just getting a retroscaler2x lot more bang for your buck

Works like a dream!
Used it to connect a SNES and a VCR/DVD combo player to my 4K TV. There was a little trial and error to it even though everything was hooked up properly. But finally the picture emerged & it was flawless. The ONLY drawback to this is that the power cord for this device has a ridiculously short cord. So you need to keep this device close to wherever you're plugging it into.

N64
I bought this to connect my N64 to 4k/8k tv/monitors using a higher quality S-video cable. I don't notice much improvement vs cra cables. I wish I would've put this money towards a different solution for a better improvement. This is a good product for other uses, just didn't work for my application.
