A surprisingly enjoyable read.
I am not Roman Catholic and bought this book out of curiosity to see what a current Catholic apologist would have to say about these people and their ideas. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. I did not have very high expectations and was skeptical about the fantasy format with its quirky idiosyncrasies as well as the openly Roman Catholic agenda of the author which made the confrontations very one-sided, but somehow it worked for me. I was able to accept it for what it was and let the fantasy elements move things along, and there was enough meat on the brief overviews of the philosophies of the ten protagonists to keep my attention and even learn from, but not so deep as to make it a chore to follow.

An excellent book!!! Worth the purchase, and the read!!!
Dr. Wiker does an excellent and creative job illuminating the uninformed, such as myself, to some of the significant minds in Western thought with whom I was unfamiliar, in a colorful and playful way, without being condescending, without the reader having to decipher the original texts or interpret their meaning. The logic and brilliance of his pairing becomes apparent quickly, although the setting in to the foil strategy, how Dr. Wiker sets it up does takes some time and patience to see where the author is going, but is most worthwhile. An excellent work, especially beneficial to the lay scholoar.

Just Buy It!!
I caught the Saints v. Scoundrels series on EWTN before I found out there was a book!!LoLAs with any book, movie, &'c -- the reader's or viewer's APPROACH is of utmost importance. This book contains fictional dialogue, for sure. Secular History professors should call the "men in the white coats" for any of their students who'd write such things.MORE'S THE PITY.But upon reading, Catholics WILL feel the Holy Spirit knocking on the door to their hearts.Brothers and Sisters,Put your brains in 'Emergency Only' mode, and open your hearts.Buy this book, then share it.

Unique method of presenting the arguments. Too much self indulgence. The Saints win or rounds -- no true knockout.
Too much Catholic orientation (and, I am an RC), From page one you know where he is coming though, doesn't hold any punches. But, does one have to reject a philosophy in its total? The scoundrels all appear to be whiners and the saints -- totally saintly.
