Shaves Like a Dream
The first thing you notice is that it's kind of bulky. It's the shaver I imagine John Daly and Bennett Cerf used when Remington sponsored What's My Line? in the '50s with many, many ads for Remington electric shavers, so it has kind of a retro feel to it.This razor has three foil heads and it shaves like a dream, quickly and comfortably. I think the third head really makes a difference. I don't have to keep going over the same spot over and over again until the stubble is gone. My problem areas are under my chin and my neck, and this razor cleans up those areas quite nicely with very little effort.I was so disappointed with my Remington F5-5800 which has a flimsy plastic assembly to hold the foil in place. After a few months of use this plastic assembly wouldn't stay attached to the razor and kept coming off, making it impossible to get a shave. This made the entire razor useless and destined for the landfill. Replacements are $12 each (used to be $25), and who wants to spend that money every few months? On this razor, the foil is held in place by a much sturdier mechanism which locks into place. The razor can be used cordlessly or with the cord plugged into an AC outlet, saving (I hope) battery life (I haven't tried powering it off USB). I don't know if the internal batteries are replaceable. It's a little more expensive but shaves much better than the cheaper razors I've tried.

Hands down the BEST shaver I have ever owned or used!
This is a quality retro shaver from Remington that would do Victor Kiam proud.First and most importantly, it provides a shave as close as a blade, quite comfortably and fairly quickly. Also, the device seems to be sturdily built, what one would reasonably expect from a shaver priced at $150. The foil and blades are easily repaceable, as well. Additionally, i’m given to understanding that the replacement of the rechargeable batteries is user friendly and fairly easy. The deal maker for this shaver for me, however, was the brilliant use of USB charging. First, the shaver may be used wet or dry, while corded, with complete safety. Five volts, the USB standard, cannot give one even the slightest tingle of a shock, even if the flesh contacting the metal parts of the shaver is wet with conductive solution and one’s body is well grounded. Five volts simply isn’t enough to do damage or even cause sensation such as pain. The use of USB power, additionally, means the shaver is truly universal voltage. No matter where in the world you are, you can readily find an AC adapter specifically powered by local AC, and inverting it to USB 5 VDC. One can even use it as a corded shaver in one’s vehicle, as i do.When Remington quit making 12 volt shavers years ago, I reckoned the convenience of shaving in my car when I have a few extra mintures, was gone forever. This new Heritage shaver proves me wrong, thankfully! In short, BUY THIS SHAVER!! Even with the $150 price tag, it’s worth it.

Not for everyone & way too expensive for what it is.
Not for everyone. I’d say I have a fairly average growth rate and beard thickness. The foils work pretty flawlessly for me provided I shave every day. Never any pulling or pain while shaving. They are pretty useless if you’re the type of guy who misses a couple days on the weekends. And the trimmer is garbage. Way too expensive for what it is.

This is a beautiful electric razor
This is a beautiful electric razor, at once, solid, heavy and elegant. I really like its retro look, especially the old school "on/off" toggle switch. I smiled when I saw that charming little feature. It gives a nice shave using the "circular motion" technique required with an electric razor. Of course, the result is nowhere near as close as a DE blade gives (which I have used for about 15 years) or even the modern 2-5 blade disposable razors. But this is an electric razor; you can't expect it to give as good a shave as a DE. If you're going to be disappointed because it is "not as close as", then stick to DE blades. However, compared to other electric razors I have tried (about 5), this is the best. Many of the negative comments about this razor are that it is "loud". I didn't notice that myself. Perhaps it's a little louder than others I've tried, but not enough to make an issue of it IMHO. It is an electric razor after all and has to make some noise.

Poorer shave for thicker hair types
I have been shaving with a Remington MS3 shaver line for many years but needed to replace it. I compared the Heritage Series side-by-side with the F3 Comfort Series shaver.I shave dry, without any creams or other preparation. My facial hairs are coarse and my stubble can actually give my wife a bad abrasion if I’m not careful. The F3 Series cutters are exactly perpendicular, like the MS3. The openings in the foil appear to be approximately the same size. The F3’s shave is almost identical to the MS3 in speed and convenience.I was disappointed in the Heritage Series’s performance, especially considering the price difference between the two models. The Heritage Series foil cutters are slightly angled and broader, and the openings in the foil are visibly smaller than the F3. As a result, the shave from the Heritage takes noticeably longer and more effort, and does not cut as a closely than the F3. It leaves more uncut hairs behind than the F3, requiring more passes. I could hear the difference in how many hairs the bigger holes were catching with the the F3. By dinnertime, even my wife was able to tell the difference between the side of my face shaved with the Heritage vs. the F3 — the F3 gives a much, much closer shave for me.Your mileage may vary; I’d strongly suggest taking advantage of Remington’s guarantee and trying both!
