Smart plugs controlled solely via an app may not be very practical, especially if household members prefer not to use or struggle with digital apps. This limitation requires everyone to rely on the app for basic functions like turning appliances on and off, which can be inconvenient for those not tech-savvy. Additionally, app-only operation means that any technical issues with the app or the user's smartphone can render the smart plugs unusable. The problem is not the product but the use case.

Easy setup. The connection with home kit is not perfect but works 90% of the times.

Its really great products and easy to operate

I purchased the Meross Smart Plug Mini on Amazon for £11.89 (the item was on offer with a 25% reduction off the regular price of £16.99) I highly rate the Meross products and have used them for a few years now. The negative aspects I’ve historically encountered with the original larger Meross plugs are as follows: 1) how the larger (old) plug casing limits access to the socket on/off switch 2) sometimes can’t fit the (old) Meross plug next to another large plug on the same extension lead (just won’t fit) So when I saw this new smart mini plug by Meross I had to buy one! This mini plug (model mss110nr) not only mirrors the functions of the (old) mss210 model but also includes more features and is a much smaller, compact design. The ease of installing the mini is refreshing. Like the older, chunkier plugs, you don’t need a hub to use it and all the old features from the original model are still included - (note: the Power Consumption function which is currently available on the mss310 model but not on the mss210 isn’t as yet included on this mini model). This said, I’m sure that Meross will release an equivalent model with the mss310’s functions soon. The mini fits snugly alongside chunkier plugs on an extension lead and the physical on/off button is located on the left side as opposed to on top which is nice. On the mss210/310, the power indicator light is located on the power button and the ‘M’ lights up when turned on but for the mini there is a pin-sized hole to the upper right side which is more discrete (there is also a setting in the Meross app to disable the light indicator altogether) The mini supports up to 13A which is more than plenty for most (and more than most competitors provide, who tend to use 10A) but it would be nice to see a model that supports a higher maximum load of 20A (this is a personal preference!) For wifi we use Netgear Orbi in our home and have no problem connecting to the 2.4GHz wifi network. (Does not support 5GHz) The plug stays connected and I haven’t yet experienced any connectivity issues. It works seamlessly with Amazon Alexa and even supports Siri commands (and google home but I haven’t used this function so can’t comment) When l’m away from home I can turn the switch on and off from Siri / Meross app / Alexa etc (once set up you don’t have to be on the wifi network to use it) - for me, I use one of my older Meross plugs to remotely hard reset an old surveillance system when it annoyingly crashes - this always fixes the problem and I can access the my home surveillance again. Before having Meross, when the camera system stopped responding, I wouldn’t be able to access it till I came home - now it’s easy to reset it with the Meross plug from anywhere using my phone! You can set scenes and routines from the Meross app and use the Alexa App functions too - such as turning on the living room lights at dusk or starting the water fountain for 40 minutes at 8am etc. (FYI plug is Not waterproof!) The Meross app supports iPhone and Apple Watch shortcuts too. One issue I have with the Meross app is that it currently won’t support sharing (so there are 3 people in my home who are signed into my personal Meross account so they can use the Meross app with the smart plugs - and the same Meross account is synced with Alexa - but as far as I know you can’t sync multiple Meross accounts to one Alexa account at the same time or share devices across multiple Meross accounts - I believe Meross are actively working on this?) To conclude, it’s great, buy one!

GREAT with Apple HomeKit! These plugs are solid - they just work every time and never fail. Super reliable and have made automating my house easy and fuss free. I think the price is very good too (2 pack). I currently have 4 setup on 2 sets of fairy lights in my office and snug. A lamp in the kitchen so in the evening when not cooking I can still have some light in the room, and then on one of my monitors in the office so I can revert to just a single monitor setup to save energy when I don't require 2 big screens! Things I love in particular: - QR code printed directly on each plug - scan and the setup is super easy and fast. You never need the box or instructions. - Fast response / low latency - plug responds instantly when asking Siri. - Robust - they just work! - Micro LED indicator allows you to see the status of the plug easily (not obtrusively bright just the perfect indicator). - Manual switch is in the side so you can manually press to switch on/off if you want to (some smart plugs have the switch on the top which is then inaccessible if you have larger adapters plugged in) - Low profile - they are slim which enables them to be used on a 4-way power bar without interrupting placement of other plugs Great product will be buying more to use with fans when it gets warmer.
