Incredible quality
We loved this building block set. It's large enough/has enough pieces to entertain adults, but easy enough that older kids can put it together. I love the size of the end product. The addition of the storage bucket is nice, but the lid doesn't stay on, so that can be a bit annoying.

Good Quality Blocks but Odd Builds and Random Accessories
I picked these up to use with my brother's grandson. I'm big on hands on toys for kids, especially that keep them away from cell phones, gaming and TV. It was a delight to have my brother and his grandson spending time together building these toys. Legos were, by far, the best toy we had growing up and this style of block is something we both shared with our kids and will share with our grand kids.Pros:Nice large set of Lego style blocks with directions to build 8 different vehicles or get creative and build your own design.Well manufactured. Good quality blocks.Blocks fit tight. This was good in the sense the blocks did not come apart easily like some Lego knock off sets do, but his grandson had problems forcing them together and taking them apart.Reusable pail great for storing and carrying these blocks. I love the Lego style lid.Great tool to develop eye hand coordination, follow directions, and challenge creativity.Cons:Instructions. You have to get use to these and smaller children may not understand. Indicated part color changes to reflect the necessary currant parts need for assembly, but this is confusing and can make you loose your place in construction. Part colors don't match block colors either further complicating the issue.8 in 1 set. There doesn't appear to be enough blocks to build all 8 vehicles at once, but maybe several. You can build all 8, but at different times.Odd build. In one notable instance one of the planes had different color wings which was indicated in the directions. Even more strange was that the matching blocks on the different wings (that were different colors) were slightly different sizes leaving a gap in one wing.Lots and lots of accessories. Guns, knives, bow, grenade, shovel, hand cuffs...frying pan. No people. Just an odd batch of accessories. It rather gives this set an odd ghost ship Mary Celeste feel like the people just all got up and disappeared. I figure this addition was to increase brick count for advertising but very disappointing for kids.Bucket lid does not fit tightly on bucket.Overall this was a fun set. Charlie enjoy the blocks and I loved the fact that my brother got to spend quality time working with his grandson playing with him which I think is what matters here. I am disappointed by the odd issues with the set, but it appears to be good quality blocks. At the present price of $47.99, this appears to be with in fair market value for this size set but then, there probably are better sets out there for this price that are less challenging for little finger and minds and less.... odd.

There are better uses of your bricks budget
The first thing I noticed with this set is the lid doesn't snap shut, it only sits on the bucket. This felt like a bad sign and it was. Its total contents are packed into a big bag with the instructions for the battleship crinkled up in the bottom of the bag, but wait, even worse, those instructions are printed entirely on two large poster-sized sheets. Fortunately, the individual sheets for the six smaller builds are packaged together with the stickers and are reasonably-sized, so those arrive in good condition. The stickers are OK quality in terms of material and adhesive, but mine were cut slightly off-center. This isn't a big deal with larger stickers, but the smaller the sticker, the worse this looks. Several of the stickers are applied across multiple pieces, which is in opposition to the notion you might build the six vehicles and then disassemble them to make the battleship. The pieces are in small bags numbered for each of the six vehicles and are organized reasonably well for building those. The overall quality of those pieces, however, is below average. Connections range from very tight to too loose to hold securely and I had two pieces which were completely unusable. Unfortunately, neither piece was included in the extras. Colors are mostly alright, but the light gray pieces were slightly milky and white pieces were as well, with several discolored and others just dirty. On the plus side, many pieces are just fine and there are some uncommon pieces that could be useful for creative building. I also feel the quality of the tires is very good. The six small build instructions are pretty good. Their biggest flaw is that a blue background is used for the steps' parts lists which alters the colors of transparent pieces enough to be confusing. The designs are good enough to save the set from being a complete waste. They do have some less-than-ideal choices, probably owing to sharing piece selection with the battleship, but take interesting approaches in places as well. They are all great size vehicles for play and should be fun for kids. Due to the numerous other issues, I am not making an attempt at building the battleship. There are also six additional jets and three helicopters included on sprues to be clipped apart and assembled, as well as eight sprues of weapons and tools only three pieces of which are used. Those are numbered one through eight, but mine has two of number 8 and is missing number 2, further underscoring the overall lack of quality control. This set is a 2.5 out of 5 for me, but I am rounding it down because the high price seems very much out of line with this level of quality. There are plenty of other sets likely to be just as much fun and offer a much better building experience.
