Should be a great shoe for the road
I have a wide foot - about half of the shoes I try on are too narrow. But I don't have a REALLY wide foot I guess. At least not as wide as the Asics X-Wide is expecting. Unfortunately, there were no styles available from Amazon for this shoe in the standard Asics width (which has always fit me well in the past). That's on me. I gambled. On the bright side, a pair of sorbothane insole inserts and they fit great. Which is better I suppose than needing to add inserts and not having room for them. I tried these on some pretty technical trails today. These are NOT advertised as trail shoes but they had nice lugs on the bottom, today was trail day not road day, and I was impatient to try them out. My Hoka's have become a little uncomfortable. Well, after 35 minutes it was clear that just because these have some nice lugs on the tread they are not trail shoes. Too flexible. That's not a ding as they aren't pretending to BE trail shoes. I think they will be great on the road. I will find out Monday morning. In terms of fit/shape/quality...they are great. And for the price, probably pretty hard to beat. Just mind the width if you decide to gamble on the X-Wide.

Best shoe i can find for the price.
I'm a mover and I put serious abuse and miles on shoes. I'm on my feet all day carrying heavy boxes, furniture, and even pianos up and down stairs all day. So shoes last me a maximum of 3 months before I have to replace them. In the last 14 years I've tried every shoe under $70 and the Gel Venture has become my go to. Comfortable, durable, and not too ugly. They also provide a lot of traction so I don't slip while pushing or pulling heavy items on inclines and declines.

Quality
This fat old man with narrow feet and higher arches put a couple hundred walking miles on these in 6 months. Two different pair now. Been comfortable, a little warm on hot days but not bad, and they still look good and the tread is all there, so bought new insoles to keep wearing them. Refreshing to buy a pair of shoes these days and feel like they are a quality and durable product. I'll be buying more.

Holding up well
This is my 3rd set of Gel-Venture series running shoes. I use them for running (3-4 mile runs) and walking on the treadmill. They've held up well through my 200 miles of trail running so far. The only thing I don't like is the lack of two top eyelets for back-lacing the shoes.

Light and Comfortable
These shoes are light and comfortable, after break in. They were a little narrow in the toe until broken in but now fit well. Been buying asics for many years and this latest purchase meets my established expectations

This older model 9 is better than 10.
I found these shoes slightly better than the later version and less expensive. More stitching on the shoe tops and use of leather instead of composite materials. Otherwise, the comfort level was about the same.

Better than anything I have tried.
I have HORRIBLE feet with lumps and constant pain - but these shoes seem to help more than most. Wear them every day for hiking, walking, sport, etc. Love them.

Liked this brand of shoes enough to get another pair.
While I don't use these for running, I do work in them. I can stretch a pair of this brand's shoes for 2 years before they turn to dust... By that point they start getting the dreaded "alligator mouth".I'm sure most people would replace them long before then, as they do wear down bit by bit as you would expect of shoes that see a lot of use, but if you're the stubborn type like me and don't like to change shoes often, you won't have a problem in that regard with these. They're comfortable, but you should make sure of your foot type before buying. This brand has a type for everyone.
