This deaf Ken is Darn Delightful
I ordered this Ken on a bit of a lark just after I purchased the new blind Barbie that just came out. It kind of struck my funny bone: blind Barbie, deaf/hard of hearing Ken. As a teenager, I attended a school for the deaf and blind on the blind side, so ordering deaf Ken tickled my funny bone in that way too. Additionally, my dad is becoming hard of hearing, so seeing Ken kind of made me think of him.I love him even more in person than I did in the pictures. I love how these modern Barbies have so many different face molds, skin tones, and body types we just didn't have when I was a kid. His outfit is probably my favorite Ken outfit I've seen in awhile; he just looks like a guy out to have some summer fun! His hearing aids are such a cool touch too. I only have a couple small nitpicks. First, while I really love the way his hair is molded, I REALLY miss the days when Ken had ACTUAL hair on his head. Also, I think it would have been an important touch to have given Ken articulated elbows and wrists so he could be posed kind of like he's talking in sign language. I feel like they just didn't give quite the same consideration to the deaf community that they gave to the blind, but that's just one hearing person's opinion, so it doesn't much matter in the end, as long as he can make some deaf kid, or any other kid or adult for that matter, smile. All in all though, I'm really happy with him, and I am very pleased with my little impulse buy! I see more of them in my future ☺️

Represents that every one is perfect enough to be a doll.
Growing up Barbie and Ken were all the same. I am able to buy today’s versions in a variety of sizes, colors, facial features and ethnicities. This version is hearing impaired, darker skinned but with features of a lighter skinned person. Part of our family is now represented for her that in my day wouldn’t have been possible. I like that she can play pretend with dolls that represent real life people not an impossible image that few can represent.

Ken never looked so good.
Sturdy, stands on his own, & handsome. Everyone you might want in a guy. Regular Ken clothes don't fit him because he is a little thicker than the skinny white guy.Great price.

He cannot wear the regular Ken clothes.
Nice doll but he is much larger than the regulation Ken. None of the Ken clothes with this guy. He can only wear the clothes that he comes with.

Hearing Aids
Another fashionista, the face sculpt is the same as another fashionista, but this one has two hearing aids. I love that about this doll and this is the only reason I got it. The sculpt is nice and the molded hair is also nice. I love the color of his shirt, but again I got it due to the hearing aids.
