I've read a number of these reviews that don't rate the noise reduction level that significantly but at the price and dB rating, I thought I'd try them. When I tried them on and chose the right size, I was immediately impressed. I have a fan behind me that I've measured at 55dB before and the difference was startling.I tried sleeping with them on and they stayed in despite the fact that I'm a side sleeper and I thrash around a lot.I think the two main keys here are to use the right size for your ears and to get them rotated correctly to stay in.I hope this next part is okay. Its real testing I used.These are ear plugs designed to specifically mechanically reduce ambient decibel levels. This is not the manufacturers intended purpose for these.That said, I do range shotgun shooting. I've used ear plugs and full ear headsets. The latter is always superior, but I thought I'd compare dB ratings. I started by pulling up ratings on hunting ear plugs here on Amazon. The highest ratings were the same, and many were lower. I checked a few hunting websites and found the same thing.Well, reading is one thing, experience is another. I have a couple of different brands of hunting ear plugs as well as a headset. I'd test ear plugs to ear plugs. Different types of firearms with different grains of ammo.While I can't measure hard numbers, these seemed to match their listed dB rating. As good as my higher rated set at the same dB rating and better than my lower rated set. Of course, nowhere near as good as the headset but a lot more comfortable to sleep in!Average firearm ratings are around 160dB.A general safety warning: Music purposed ear buds and headphones, including noise canceling ones are not designed to protect your ears and may cause hearing loss.

Good for sleeping as they don't fall out; lowers the volume but alas not total silence.

I love these earplugs! I have bought countless earplugs in the past. These fit so well & stay in my ears all night!I have a hard time falling asleep & staying asleep. I live on a busy street & the traffic noise is awful.I can now throw away about 50 pairs of earplugs because they didn’t fit properly or block the noise. These fit perfectly (without a lot of adjusting), & they don’t fall out of my ears, like many others did!I highly recommend these!

I went to Monster Jam with my grands, these worked very well, very comfortable, easy to put in and remove. I just wish they had a carrying case.....

I was able to sleep thru the night with these in, so comfort wise they weren't horrible, but as far as noise cancellation goes, they are useless, sure the do reduce the level a little bit, but since my goal is to address my wife's snoring, these don't even begin to be enough.

I did a lot of searching and reading. Bought these mostly because of the high 38 NRR rating. Was disappointed to see it comes with 2 pairs, 2 different sizes (must have missed that part). ...I only need 1. Took a lot of fidgetting to get them just right & still ended up hurting in my ear as I'm sleeping in them. Was kinda impressed with how much sound they blocked though! Until I start hearing bass! It's almost like they "block everything BUT low frequency" on purpose!The search continues...

I’ve used old fashion regular ear plugs for years and they hurt and are just so nasty by the end of the night. I ended up retraining myself to sleep without them due to the uncomfortable feeling my ears had in the morning. Well now I have a neighbor that I swear is a bat because he sleeps all day and up all night. Keeps my old self up all night. So instead of possibly going to jail, I purchased these. They are so comfortable and blocks out all noise. My ears don’t ache in the morning and the best part is that they can be washed and reused!

Work great for canceling out back ground noise.However, I have small ears so, I wish the small size was a tad bit smaller.
